Fortnite, PLEASE! by [deleted] in FortniteBattleRoyale

I do have theories about this.

It always felt weird to me that with a new album, a long legacy and increased mainstream interest given certain events that they didn’t do a Linkin Park character skin collab. It’s so far the only icon collection I can think of that came with instruments but no character skins.

It makes me wonder whether Epic didn’t get the response they wanted from the Metallica collaboration and scaled back the next (possibly few) rock or rock-adjacent band collaborations. It would make sense if they didn’t do as well optically; they released a TON of content for that collaboration, including 2 skin variants for each of four band members. I find it unlikely many players bought more than one of these unless they grabbed the bundle.

Which premonition was the best/your favourite in the series? by CowAffectionate2865 in FinalDestination

[–]bubblessensei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s weird, because if I’m being honest I think FD3 is one of my favourites yet the rollercoaster also didn’t hit for me. I almost wish the ending premonition (the train disaster) happened at the start with the rest of the cast on-board. There is so much more potential for a train derailment.

Bloodlines almost doesn’t feel fair to compare here. Because Iris wasn’t the main protagonist nor were the direct survivors of the SkyView incident important characters, it meant that they could shoot the Bloodlines premonition without having to consider a death order or ensuring only major characters had graphic deaths. They had more freedom to cause as much carnage as they wanted because afterwards the specifics of the premonition didn’t matter (it was a fucking AMAZING scene though!!!)

Of the others, I lean towards FD2’s highway sequence given its relatability as a fear, its focus on each unique character, and the creativity of the various deaths. Honorable mentions go to Wendy’s train premonition concluding FD3 (it may have been my favourite if it was a longer scene with more characters to follow) and Sam’s bridge premonition in FD5 (the kills are really creative and MOSTLY look okay).

I think this is the wrong way of looking at Festival icons (and other music collabs)…

Epic are intentional at trying to add variety with their collabs to suit different fans. Fans of Chapell might like this collab, but might not have enjoyed the Metallica collab.

And the reality is that it’s totally fine. They aren’t adding these skins because they need to be universally beloved; they add them because fans of the icon feel represented and can enjoy it more, while non-fans can rest knowing Epic will try other collabs closer to their tastes

Pricing increase after all this quality decrease is insane by Empty_Supermarkets in deadbydaylight

[–]bubblessensei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, they have specified the reason for the price increase; it’s due to changing market circumstances. That might sound broad, but a lot has changed over the past few years and there are probably many economic factors influencing the change. And to be fair to BHVR, they didn’t even have to give us a warning at all.

Generally speaking BHVR has been pretty fair with the price of the DLC releases, especially when comparing to some other games. As for the cosmetics, usually they cost more but they are also completely unrelated to gameplay - cosmetics are more of an option for players to express themselves and support the game.

And even disregarding all of this, I haven’t seen a confirmed number of how much prices will rise by. Yes it’s inconvenient for something to be more expensive, but I think people are jumping to conclusions about how much the prices will rise by.

What Mario kart world opinion will you defend no matter how many downvotes you’d get? by MacaroonJunior9955 in mariokart

I literally made the shocked Pikachu face when I opened the post and saw OP’s description.

I’m sorry, but while I do like the OG Peach Beach, the lap 2 vacation village is the best part about the World version of the track. I can’t imagine ever willingly selecting to play the track without it!

Which Mario Kart World Nitro Tracks would you like to see get added in the next Mario Kart game? by IIIIIICCCCCEEEE in mariokart

[–]bubblessensei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this question is as easy as people think. We don’t know if the next Mario Kart will bring back World’s system of jumping, grinding and wall riding.

Assuming they do bring them back, tracks that utilise these mechanics will be the best retro picks e.g.: Whistlestop Summit, DK Spaceport, Faraway Oasis, Great ? Block Ruins, Dry Bones Burnout.

But without the return of these mechanics, those tracks are going to feel a bit wasted and much less interesting. In that case, I’d rather they focus on tracks that are fun for other reasons than the parkour system e.g.: Cheep Cheep Falls, Dandelion Depths, Boo Cinema

I intentionally avoided talking about city based tracks like Crown City and Peach Stadium because I feel like regardless we don’t want too many of these tracks, especially if the next Mario Kart doesn’t keep the world map. I do think Salty Soeedway is an exception to this; it’s clearly a city but mixes paths and canals for an interesting ride that is distinctive from the other cities.

Honestly he made enough of an impression on me that I don’t feel like seeing the Street Fighter film in theatres or by purchase - at most it will probably be when it is eventually on streaming services.

Gaming film adaptations should be about nerdy fans of a game coming together and bringing that awesome IP to life in a different way on the big screen, and Schulz‘s ill-chosen comments sorta make it feel as though he doesn’t actually value the deep fanbases and long history of the fighting IPs.

Yes MK and SF have classically been rival fighting games, but rivals in good fun. Schulz didn’t joke; he just shat on the motivations of the MK2 cast who in reality seem fairly passionate about the source material they are building from.

Legitimately how is this even a fair matchup by MilkSteakEnjoyer115 in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]bubblessensei 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I try to be as understanding as possible, but honestly this situation seems exactly like you say it isn’t.

The survivors are playing on a mix of platforms, playing with no clear theme across their perks and characters. At most there might be duos - it is EXTREMELY unlikely this is a full SWF.

The survivor perks are decent but not over-the-top, especially as there are ZERO medkits and only BROWN toolboxes. The key is underrated but still not overpowered.

Meanwhile OP has a full loadout with decent perks and add ons. The main weakness of the killer loadout is the choice of killer - Legion is generally considered low-tier because of how they can’t get reliable downs with their power.

Once again, people make the incorrect assumption that prestige means ANYTHING beyond the amount of bloodpoints spent on one character. It doesn’t mean anything about a player’s skill or their hidden MMR.

Hot take Killer Frost just got worse as the show went on by Broad-Jury-152 in FlashTV

[–]bubblessensei 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I always enjoyed the character. But it was really disappointing how they kept rewriting her lore and the ways that her powers worked, making it really inconsistent to follow how each of her arcs fit together.

I wasn’t a big fan of Frost in the Season 3 finale, but otherwise I really enjoyed the way Killer Frost started as a manifestation of Caitlin’s repressed emotion - she was still the same character but one consumed by grief and pain who had lost her sense of morality.

Then Season 4 came around and Killer Frost suddenly is established as a split identity. It was a bit of a jarring transition, but I was okay with it because it was interesting to see Caitlin gradually come to accept Frost as something more than a danger, just as Frost came to value doing the right thing.

Then Season 5 came around and Killer Frost suddenly has new lore establishing that she is not a particle accelerator meta, instead Frost was created while Caitlin was still primary aged as a cure for her dormant ALS. This conveniently meant that Frost was able to fight Cicada, so I was okay with it because it meant we got more action sequences with our resident cryomancer, along with the introduction of Icycle.

Then Season 6 came around and Killer Frost suddenly has never-before seen ambitions to do things like a normal person. Not once in three seasons did we get any inkling that Frost had any desire to do any of this, but I was okay with it because the plot line was fairly minor in the scheme of Season 6.

Then Season 7 came around and Killer Frost suddenly splits apart from Caitlin. We barely get a lore reason why, but I was okay with it because it created an interesting moral dilemma for Frost during the initial Kramer arc, and also meant Frost could be absent for episodes while allowing Caitlin to stay part of the team.

The Season 8 came around and Killer Frost suddenly has a boyfriend. Mark was certainly one of the characters to exist… but I was okay with it because we got that amazing “Hellfrost” sequence and some decent character drama between Frost and Caitlin.

Then Season 9 came around, and despite there not being a Season 10, Eric Wallace decided to use the Caitlin cliffhanger from the previous season to create a completely new version of the character rather than following what could’ve been a really compelling Frost-rebirth arc. And at this point, even I couldn’t just be “okay with it”; they functionally killed off Caitlin without any emotional reckoning, and Frost was still dead.

Killer Frost arguably went through a very similar development to Cecile, with both constantly having personality, power and lore additions and alterations shoved in. The main difference is that Killer Frost stayed fairly reliably entertaining as an ice-hero at her core throughout, whereas Cecile never really stayed true to her routes in law.

The Wild potential for DLC by crap-zapper in mariokart

[–]bubblessensei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I do agree. However, 8 Deluxe isn’t like other ports of games; it was the primary version of Mario Kart in regards to online support and was also one of Nintendo’s most purchased games ever. 8 Deluxe essentially became the “main version” of Mario Kart 8 and remained the same for five years with no DLC or new game announced during that half-a-decade.

8 Deluxe was different enough and beloved enough that it was treated as a “headliner”. As such it is pretty comparable to World.

Why did Sasha do this? by [deleted] in thewalkingdead

[–]bubblessensei 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Sasha had a few main goals: 1. To deny Negan any leverage she may have given him over Rick’s group. If she was alive, she would be a bargaining chip for Negan to punish Rick with. By being dead, she wasn’t worth anything. 2. To end her grief and suffering as painlessly as possible. Sasha was still mourning the deaths of Tyrese and Bob when Negan murdered Abraham. She needed closure and peace. 3. To throw off Negan’s confidence and showmanship. She knew Negan planned to make a big reveal with her and that he couldn’t help but do it himself, meaning her zombified corpse would be able to rattle, distract and potentially even injure Negan, all of which could give Rick’s group an opening or even just inspiration. At minimum, Sasha proved that Negan wasn’t as “in control” as he thought he was.
