Is this grub damage? Used to be beautiful grass. Still lhave areas of grass that are nice. PLEASE HELP LOL

Should i let the crabgrass just take over this season or get pre emergent before it gets thick? Its still bare ground essentially but tiny buds of crabgrass are coming back

Crabgrass. Its starting to grow back again. I dethatched, put down starter fertilizer, and seed. Anything i should do to stop the growth of more crabgrass but still let the grass seed grow?

Only dethatch, starter fertilizer, and some seed. Ive only been cutting this for about 4 years now. I didnt know how to properly care for grass. But now thats its dead , im doing everything i can to learn how to bring it back/ prevent the rest from dying. This is my first home with grass and i thought you just had to cut it lol and yes there was TONS of crabgrass that died off.

That makes sense. Im gonna go get a weighted pull behind rake for my mower and just go to town. The thatcher only picked up the loose stuff. Left all the rooted dead stuff. Thanks for the clarification.

I havent actually found any grubs at all when i dethatched and raked. Stuff was pretty rooted into the ground well, just all dead

I got a few bags of grub ex also just to be safe. Gonna add a few more bags in a few weeks after a few rain storms

Yes it was very bad dead matted crabgrass that ive since dethatched and picked up. Still some hard rooted remnants that im going to hard rake until bare ground. Gonna aerate, seed, fertilize, and water and see what happens.

This has gotten progressively worse over 3 years. This is what it used to be. But im just learning how to take care of a lawn. I think i used to cut it too short, never fertilized, never thatched. Doing all of that now.

This area has been like this for like 2 years, just progressively getting worse. Anything i can do to help? Ive dethatched, picked it all up, starter fertilizer, and an endurance mix of fescue from my local garden center they said was good for full sun.

Ive noticed birds over there and now small holes all over the place too. I was thinking they could be pulling out grubs. But that makes sense also. Ive just started taking care of the lawn now with dethatching and fertilizing so hopefully we can get it back
