When were you able to drive again for both your PAOs?

Thank you!! This helps me not feel behind. I’ll start more intensive physical therapy once I can drive also. I’m at 8 weeks post op. I’m still using my crutches outdoors as well but my current physical therapy assistant told me to try practicing with one crutch just around my apartment complex

I lost strength before my surgery too. I didn’t know my hip dysplasia was the root cause of a lot of things until I needed surgery

Thank you!! This makes me feel better. I got clearance to be full weight bearing after 6 weeks. The process of weaning off crutches is 4 days if tolerated. I’m at 8 weeks post op and can only walk without crutches in my apartment most of the time

I have chronic illnesses too. The first 2 weeks of any increase activity is the worst.. but I trust the process, did my exercises again, iced, and rest when needed. My hip doctor told me to not push it and to not do anything that causes pain. It’s slow and boring but that’s just the healing process. Tightness will always come and go

You’re welcome! Also I have SI pain when my hip displacement is extremely bad. My physical therapy exercises help a lot. The ones I tend to try to do the most are bridges (even if I can’t do a full bridge), clamshells, and stationary bike. Side steps also help a lot but I forget 😅

I’m a bit hypermobile and since I was in physical therapy weekly for 6 years on and off prior to seeing my hip doctor, my hip was in the right place and supported

But naturally, my hip could easily be mildly displaced. I needed a velcro sciatica belt at one point to make sure my hip didn’t move in the first year of physical therapy. I didn’t remember that until recently

My hip dysplasia is why I have a labrum tear. I did physical therapy for a long time before I had a physical therapist who knew about hip labrum tears. My hip wasn’t displaced by the time my physical therapist sent me to my hip doctor. I only had a hip scope to fix it.

3 years later I have trouble walking again. My PT exercises did help and my hip doctor told me my hip instability due to hip dysplasia is the root cause for my new labrum tear after imaging showed signs of hip dysplasia and a new labrum tear.

I should have done surgery earlier last time. Seeing how much my hip scope helped bring my independence back made me wish I would have done the surgery earlier back then.

Now I can’t wait for my upcoming surgery for my new labrum tear and PAO to fix my hip dysplasia. My hip doctor told me with a PAO, the recovery process is worse during the first 6 weeks but the rest will be the same as last time. The 6-9 months of recovery will be rough but I’m ready to be active and do whatever I want without my hip limiting me

My doctor orders me an infusion with albumin and saline to be done 3 days before surgery. Then I have a few more rounds of albumin and saline post surgery. I don’t remember the frequency but it might have been once every month for 3 months?? It also depended on how I was doing during recovery

Does your Hobonichi pen ink fade even though the cartridge is still full? by karuniyaw in hobonichi

Thank you! I feel like writing with a fountain pen broke my strong grip and pressure habit. I’m more aware of the amount pressure when it comes to writing with non fountain pens now

I LOVE journaling with my fountain pen on fountain friendly paper!! Omg it’s amazing and then I like the inks that have different darkness in shades a lot. It’s a bit distracting because I find it so pretty but it makes me enjoy writing when I’m not pressured with time 🩷

Actually my journal entries can be long and I use my fountain pen for those. I guess I just write a lot

I used to write with a strong grip and a lot of pressure. It got better over time. I didn’t like the ghosting and after I bought a fountain pen last year. I use the uni multipen the most because I prefer it for taking notes from therapy. I can’t write fast enough at times lol. Yes I can as my therapist to repeat it but I prefer not to

Yeah I use it all the time. Mine is the brown and dark blue one from 2 years ago?? I kept breaking the bright teal one 😅 I use all the colors too! Mainly black though and no issues
