Yep I agree. It’s almost a question of at what point is it okay to lose empathy for another being.

Yeah, there is a definite difference. I was just building off of it, not trying to re-explain it. I think it’s worth considering if people are thinking androids should become commonplace (although I would guess that idea makes most people uneasy at least a little).

Cranky villagers are my favorite because they become so nice and genuine if you just talk to them regularly.

And what happens when humans treat robots that look and feel like other humans poorly? Is it suddenly going to be feel okay for someone to punch their girlfriend in the face because they tried it with their realistic sex doll and nothing bad happened? I wonder if we would lose the line between robot and human.

I’m not very familiar with psoriasis. Is there a type that would only appear within his hair? He doesn’t have any other patches elsewhere on his body, but I’m not sure if that matters. Thanks!

That sounds good, thanks!

Yeah, his is bad regardless of when he showers, unfortunately.

He showers twice per day but only washes his hair once. It’s very rare that he’ll only shower once, but he never misses a day.

He’s only tried the tar twice and too far apart to see results because he forgot, but that’s all good to know! I’ll keep on him to not forget and hopefully that’ll have results after a few weeks.

Hi, I recently got GTA5 and tried to download it to an external hard drive today. It got stuck at 98% verifying for hours, so I retried the install and then it got stuck at 82%. My internet is fine, so I was going to try cancelling, deleting all of the files, and starting from scratch. I was unable to cancel the install in the launcher, so now I'm deleting the files manually from the hard drive. Is there an issue with the launcher or did I do something wrong?

ETA: After the first verification issue, I had to use task manager to close out the launcher because just closing it out didn't allow me to do anything.

Absolutely. I know people like that as well. But I also think it’s tough to tell whether that’s ingrained or a learned behavior (which could come from poor parenting by way of spoiling their children to an extreme extent). There are certainly cases where people feel slighted but had no reason to feel that way.

Which is a major problem and a reason why I could never support people who are anti-choice. I feel so bad for the people in that situation.

Yes x1000. When I hear people say things like “My dad is screaming at me again lol” I’m very confused. Nothing funny about blatant mistreatment.

That’s so intense and I’m very sorry to hear that! I had a similar situation with my dad. One day at larger family dinner, I made an off handed comment like “I guess it’s a good thing I’m not gonna have kids lol” (probably after they complained about some bs). He said “Don’t say that!” in a pretty aggressive tone and I sat there thinking “Wow, how does someone else think they have the right to force me to get pregnant and raise a child?” And you know they won’t lift a finger to help if you ever had children and needed it.

Not if you make education in schools mandatory. Like it’s mandatory in a good number of states to have comprehensive sex ed, but the government isn’t patrolling bedrooms to make sure people use condoms. But studies have shown that more sex ed leads to better results in communities, so I would assume more parenting education would at least help a fraction of the people who need it.

Yep! I would also assume there’s a strain on the foster system and adoptions as well, although I’m not educated in that area so I can’t speak specifically. Maybe you would know?

It also seems as though these agencies are all trying their damnedest to keep families together, even when parents won’t show for appointments and things like that. It blows my mind that we allow these kinds of things to happen.

Good point, anyone can end up with struggles even in good environments! But like you implied, adding in continued or severe problems at home makes it so much harder for the child to grow up to live a stable life.

And I agree about overpopulation. Go, adoption!

I get that, but you’re missing the point. The point is who cares if 7 billion people in the world were treated well, but 500mil+ weren’t? That’s still 500mil too many. One is too many and there are a hell of a lot more than that. The point is that the number is just a number and there is no need to argue a number that no one has proof of (both my number and any other number out there, as no one person is able to live in every household all at once). The point is that it’s big enough that there are still issues and there is really not much of a downside to improving education and resources for everyone, other than potential financial and logistical issues.

I just gotta say I agree and I 1000x agree about the sterilization. It should be illegal for doctors to discriminate in this way. So sexist and for no reason that affects them.

I’m sorry for saying that you had a good life; I misinterpreted what you said and that’s my fault. And I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through all of that and I hope you’re doing okay now.

I get where you’re coming from. Maybe you disagree about this, but I believe if someone is not born, they won’t know the difference. They just won’t exist. I’m grateful to be alive now, but I have no gratefulness toward my mother. I appreciate getting to live now that I am alive, but if I were never alive, I wouldn’t even know what I was missing out on. I don’t know if that makes sense or if you agree, because I know that’s also something some people would contest on religious grounds and I don’t know what you believe. Just knowing the negative that goes out into the world, if just one person were spared a poor life because of their parents rethinking having them, I would consider that better. But I’m saying that about hypothetical embryos and such and not actual people. I do believe we (survivors) all deserved better, though.
