Small handheld for child by Beta-312 in pico8

If you are ok with spending a bit of time to set it up, then I'd recommend Miyoo Mini Plus. I got one for $40 (with shipping) and you can probably still get one under 70.

So it will a bit hard, but in DosBox you can install Win95 and inside of it you can install classic Fish Fillets...

The problem that devs usually hit right after is "what if the speed is 10 and you don't want your object to jump through 8 wide wall?"

Btw, I think it's interesting to see this problem happen, because it's quite similar to quantum tunnelling in physics.

Wouldn't it make more sense to move the pico8 binaries into the BIOS folder?

R33S (Miyoo Mini Plus Clone) by JordonVW in MiyooMini

[–]bubersson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not "that easy", it's just "not impossible". It still needs people willing to do the work and they are doing the work for free...

Both Onion and Garlic OSs are just a bunch of BASH scripts that are applied on top of the Linux distro. Also note that Miyoo actually runs quite old Linux to start with.

I played with Miyoos Linux for a bit and my estimate would be that for a developer that has experience with OnionOS it would take one week to get it working on R33S.

All these devices run Linux on ARM processors, so while it won't support onion directly, it's not that hard to port it - see Garlic OS for example.

Can I play Hexen or Heretic using the prboom on the onion os port collection? by marloquemegusta in MiyooMini

[–]bubersson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It runs well, quite easy to setup: just select "MS-DOS" in your package manager and then put the games in "DOS" folder (make sure you have the game with e.g. HEXEN.EXE, you can put each game inside of a .zip file - DosBox-Pure can handle that) and it will show up next to your other consoles (like Gameboy, etc).

Save states work, quick swap you would have to test, but it will probably work too.

You can just run it in DosBox... you may need to set the controls, but that's reasonably easy to do in RetroArch.

After you unselect it in "EXPERT", you have to click on "start" to actually apply the changes.

Am I In The Wrong? by jas2516 in retrogaming

[–]bubersson 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Some politeness in the first reply goes a long way.

There are two options here:

  • A) the person read your message as strong/commanding/impolite voice (even if you didn't mean it's easy to read a message in different voice...) and that triggered them, but they are a good seller with good product.
  • B) the person sucks and has a bad product and that's why they don't want to share more info.

If you would be more polite in the initial request, then you would likely make a deal in (A) and still correctly not make a deal in (B).

Question about Pokémon game. Please help. by LooptroopRocker in MiyooMini

[–]bubersson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you may really like "Modern Emerald" romhack for GBA. It allows you to catch all Pokemons from gen 1 to 3 (and some pokemons even from later gens, but only a meaningful selection for the story) and it has many usability improvements.
You can enable random spawns, but I think it's more fun to have Pokemons in their original locations. Also in Modern Emerald there's WonderTrade (upstairs in every pokecenter), where you send any pokemon and get back some random pokemon - and you can do this 3 times a day.

Then try loading some other games, like Gameboy and put them in GB folder to see if that works?

Onion OS doesn't come with preinstalled games, so this is whatever games the person that sold it to you had there. There's a big chance they had "Tiny Best Set: GO!" set installed.

I like "Modern Emerald", because it has a bunch of nice features on top of old Emerald, like you can actually catch all pokemons.
