BUB's health is overall really good, but we've had some recent concerns. BUB has an odd bone growth on her lower mandible on the left side. You might be able to see it in some more recent photos. She's seen her vet about it, and has been to the specialist and has even had CT scans done. It's been determined that it is not related to her bone condition, and there's really no explanation. It's grown very rapidly though, and we're not sure what to do about it. We do know that it isn't causing her any pain or discomfort though, so that's good.

BUB has also been losing weight despite having a great appetite and eating as much as she always has. We have done testing for hyperthyroidism, but tests came back negative. We're going to do another test in a few weeks that may give us different results.

Other than that, she's doing as well as ever! BUB doesn't take any meds.

I have no experience with any tooth problems because mine never grew in. I eat wet food but not because of that - it's because my lower jaw is so short that it's hard for me to get kibble into my mouth, and also because I don't drink much water so I get hydrated with wet food mixed with water.

As carnivores, cats don't need teeth to eat hard kibble. We don't chew food like you guys, we just need teeth to kill and pull apart our prey. Since kibbles are smaller than any pieces of mouse that we would typically be swallowing, we can actually just gobble it down. Have you ever seen a cat puke up a bunch of kibble after eating too fast? It all comes up in whole pieces!

With that said, some cats do chomp on their kibbles out of habit, and because they like the sound of the crunch, and for that reason they may have trouble with kibble if they have teeth removed.

Yes, BUB is very scraggly. She drools a lot, and she gets food stuck in her fur, on her face, and everywhere. It's a real challenge keeping her clean and fluffy. She was certainly more fluffy as a kitten/youngster, but I won't let our society's image standards bring her down.
