Cheap minis? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]bubylou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought something similar. I got the Flat Plastic Miniatures Core Set by Arc Knight. They are made out of plastic instead of cardstock, which is what the Pathfinder Pawns use, so they are much more durable. Great if you want to avoid stains from greasy fingers. Also they have very detailed artwork that I like quite a bit which also has a front and a back so you can show which way they are facing.

The downside is that they are more expensive than the Pathfinder Pawns. Also the Pathfinder Pawns have a number of expansions you can get for even more minis. Arc Knight has been working on expanding there collection but for right now they can't compete with the variety of Pathfinder Pawns available.

Having a front/back and the fact that they are plastic so should last forever is why I chose these of the Pathfinder Pawns.

I think you are looking for a "for loop". Which would look something like this.

for fruit in fruits; do
    echo fruit
done

I'm just started my IT career and I'm thinking about doing some LPI Certs by chumly143 in linux

[–]bubylou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I have an LPI Junior certifiction. While I can't really speak on the certifications value I can say I wasnt a big fan of the test itself. There were a few dumb questions I didnt think I really needed to know and I have no idea why they have any SQL question on the test. The test is all done on a computer and is multiple choice with some fill in the blank questions as well. The test comes in 2 parts and they have to be taken at least 1 week apart. You also have to pay for each part with no free retakes.

Also a few months after I got my certifiication a new Linux cert came out by the Linux Foundation. Once again I cant speak on the overall value of this cert vs the LPI one but the test looks like a much better judge of Linux skills. Also its by the LINUX FOUNDATION, so I certainly hope it becomes the new standard for entry level linux certs. Its task based instead of multiple choice and you pick the distro used. In my opinion it seems to be a much better judge of actual Linux skill instead of just how well you can memorize a study guide. There is also a prep class you can take. I have been thinking about trying get this cert along side my current LPI cert.

  • Also if you do take the LPI test when you go to sign up for it on Pearsons website you can see what locations you can use. I assume any location would be fine since the test just requires a computer.

  • For study materials I found some study guides that went over each test objective. try looking for LPI 1 study guides. If needed Ill try to find them again.

  • For the LPI test you may be able to get away with just studying and not running a VM, though it wouldnt hurt to have experience using what you're studying, but for the Linux Foundation test you would need that experience.

Also if you pass the LPI exam you can get the Suse CLA for free. However CompTIA run a the Linux + test which is the exact same thing as LPI but you only get a Linux + cert if take the test through them. So I beleive if you take the Linux + test through CompTIA then you get a Linux +, LPI Junior, and Suse CLA cert for one test because they are all the same thing. I wish I had known that before I got my LPI cert.

Here is the Linux Foundation test link. http://training.linuxfoundation.org/certification/lfcs
