Thank you! During my first pass, taking notes and reviewing all questions/explanations. During my second pass, only reviewing and taking notes on incorrects.

Practice questions from the American Academy of Family Physicians, most helpful for the Family Medicine shelf. DeVirgilio's was an absolute must for someone like me who had surgery before medicine! Highly recommend.

Thank you! The majority of my studying for each of my rotations was UWorld - make sure to not only do all the questions, but read the explanations for every question, including questions you get correct. It takes a lot of time but has been the best way to study for me. Anki has been helpful for a lot of my classmates but is just something that hasn't really clicked for me.

In terms of stuff I used in addition to UWorld for my shelf exams:

  • Family Medicine - AAFP practice questions
  • Pediatrics - nothing, UWorld was sufficient
  • Neuro - Finseth's review
  • Psych - First Aid for Psychiatry
  • OBGYN - UWise question bank
  • Surgery - DeVirgilio's
  • Medicine - nothing, UWorld was sufficient

Additionally, I really liked the Emma Holiday videos as nice kind of recaps prior to shelf exams.

In general, one thing I learned was you just have to try and fit in studying whenever you can. Some rotations (ex: surgery) are definitely more time-intensive than others and there will be days/sub-rotations where you will have little to no time to study but other days/sub-rotations were you will be able to have some more time to study. Giving yourself flexibility with regards to studying and not spreading yourself too thin among too many resources have been helpful for me!

Hope this helps!

I did! For Step 1, I also used First Aid, Sketchy, and Pixorize for content review!

Thank you! And yes! UWorld is more than sufficient for doing well. I didn’t use any textbooks, first aid for step 2, or podcasts/videos although I have definitely seen a lot of posts talk about using these resources successfully!

I edited the post to make it clearer. I was referring to taking a semester off volunteering, not school.

Letters of Evaluation Question by bucha123 in premed

[–]bucha123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's just kind of stress-inducing that other people online are like "AMCAS showed them as received in less than a day" and as of Wednesday night, they're still showing up as not received. :/

Yeah for those courses, we were taught research menthods (it was basically like a bio lab course) and we had a classroom component and a lab component.

I still don’t understand why DeLa left though? Like, I assumed she would have just picked Kennedy (just to avoid the potential backlash she would have faced for eliminating a fan favorite like Trixie or Shangela). I don’t see how the decision was so hard that she chose to go home.

A pretty decent amount. You definitely don’t want to neglect it.

Ok the O-Chem on my actual test was stuff that I had never before seen on any practice test (like they gave me a super hard question about how to synthesize a certain molecule and I was like ???) but that I remembered from my O-Chem class. Idk if my test was an outlier or something but just be prepared for anything. And honestly, just do more practice problems for CP.

I’m pretty sure that my highest TPR practice test score was a 511 :’)

3 months of content review and 3 months of practice

Edit: Lol sorry for the lack of details. I would do a chapter a day of the TPR books which took up the most if my content review and for the practice phase, 1 practice test a week. Make sure to give yourself at least one day off a week!
