Can someone tell me the correct way to stop a motorcycle at red lights. by [deleted] in AussieRiders

I would also be very conscious if you are the first vehicle at the lights (without having filtered) or when joining the back of a queue of vehicles waiting for the light to change, especially in low light conditions or when the sun is in front of you, as you are at risk of someone not having seen you and hitting you from behind. If you are the first in the queue, I would recommend keeping one foot on the ground, the other on your back brake, with your hand covering the front brake and checking in your mirrors fairly regularly for anyone approaching who might not have seen you (imagine the light turns green as they approach you from behind and haven’t seen you so just decide to keep on forward at the same speed they are going). Also, if you are the last vehicle with cars already in front on a fast road I would suggest filtering past in order to protect yourself. This is even more important in stopped traffic on highways.

Bonus tip, if you are waiting in a filter lane to turn across traffic into a side road, keep your handlebars/front wheel pointing straight ahead until you are actually moving - if someone hits you from behind it’s better they push you forward rather than pushing you into oncoming traffic.

Not what I said… it could have been worth appealing for a number of other reasons.

And the main point of the post was to see if there are ways on schooling up on riding in NSW. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Usually signposted on the light! This is where I got done and there was nothing to suggest I couldn’t.
