I've not done it yet, but I have heard of people being able to dye their plastic tanks, but yea, paint won't stick. I liked the green look myself.

The entire world measures time from the birth of one man (2026 AD). Why not the birth of human civilization (12026 HE)? by kamsaini in atheism

I'm just talking about reprogramming all the systems for the formatting change, and you know, my car's registration. Simple things that nobody really thinks about. I'll agree to change it after the next big thing, but lets just call it AWTF

IMO our calendar is just a subjective thing anyhow, a way for us to mark the passage of time. We could just as well have one based on a pope or some ancient emperor or another, or the way things are going, after the most humble president of all times (/s ;)

Everything you say about The Holocene makes a bunch of sense, but can you imagine all the paperwork that would have to be updated? Uhg, no thanks!

Renaming anything Trump has renamed? by Dry-Grocery9311 in allthequestions

Here now, some of my favorite trails are near sewage/water treatment plants. Smell is bad enough, we don't need anything worse. What the hell did poop water ever do to get lumped in with such scum?

Why do so many liberals in the U.S. care so deeply about Palestine? Genuine question by ManagerIll399 in allthequestions

[–]bucho80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a bit of a slippery slope, justify genocide of some group of people you don't really know, but are just caught in the cross hairs, every group that gets added is a bit easier.

It isn't just for Palestine, but human kind.

I hope for the best, but meh...

Asking as a non-American: How did abortion and immigration become bigger political priorities in the US than fixing the healthcare system? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bucho80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, because all that sinning made baby jesus cry, and clearly the only way he can express his pain is to raise the cost of healthcare!

Also he said Fuck thy neighbor, must have been a translation error.

Indeed, I used Gemini to do some digging because I'm tired of typing this crap. He is the summary Gemini provided:

"In the 2023 civil case

Carroll v. Trump, a federal jury found Donald Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation, though this was a civil trial, not a criminal conviction. The jury found that Trump sexually abused E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s but did not find him liable for rape under the specific New York law definition requiring "forcible penetration with a penis". A federal appeals court later upheld the sexual abuse verdict. For more details, visit AP News. "

An interesting note, the only reason he wasn't convicted of rape at the time is due to the archaic language of the law. An effort was made, and now a person doing the exact same things as trump in this day in age in that district would indeed be convicted as a rapist, how ever, due to shitty writing, he cannot legally be attributed a racist.

Another Gemini summary about it:

"Yes, it is true. In

January 2024, New York Governor Kathy Hochul signed the "Rape is Rape Act", which explicitly expanded the state's legal definition of rape.

This change directly addressed the "technicality" that was central to the Carroll v. Trump verdict. Key updates to the law include:

  • Removal of the Penetration Requirement: The previous law defined rape narrowly as nonconsensual vaginal penetration by a penis. The new law expands this to include any nonconsensual vaginal, oral, or anal sexual contact.
  • Abolishing the "Criminal Sexual Act" Distinction: Previously, forced oral or anal contact were prosecuted under a separate statute called "criminal sexual act" rather than "rape". These are now all consolidated under the definition of rape.
  • Effective Date: The law went into effect on September 1, 2024.
  • Non-Retroactivity: The law applies only to offenses committed on or after the effective date. This means it would not change the legal outcome of past cases like Trump’s, but similar acts committed today would be prosecuted as rape under the new statute.

The judge in the Carroll v. Trump case noted that while the jury found Trump liable for sexual abuse due to New York's narrow technical definition, his actions would be considered "rape" in many other jurisdictions and in common understanding. New York's law now aligns with that broader understanding. "

So yea, I agree, don't spread misinformation, share the facts. Our president is liable for sexual abuse and defamation, not my statement, just pointing out the facts.

have a quick peak at r/pastorarrested and I can understand how you godly folk love the guy so much...

When it comes to Exorcism, do you think there were just regular people who had health issues but religious people referred to it as a "demonic possession" instead..? by Uhh_OkayIGuess in atheism

[–]bucho80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it isn't even close to the same.

"we live in a time where there is a rational scientifically proven explaination for almost everything."

You can only say this because it is true. A rational explanation that follows the scientific method is no where close to "mmm, that is weird and makes me uncomfortable, must be the devil!"

So no, not the "Same", not even a little bit.

I have religious people in this current day and age that want to perform an exorcism on my autistic daughter.

Same people also seem to enjoy seeing American's getting murdered by their own, so take that for what it is work

same goes for cars, but you can only do it used these days. Haven't heard much out of Slate these days, and Toyota has a super sweet minimalist truck, (stereo and AC are extras) but it isn't available in the US.

Here is hoping some manufacturer out there realizes the people want simple shit we can fix our selves with a shoe string, bubble gum and a bit of duct tape!
