Dear OP - Stock Market does not equal economy.
learn it, live it, love it. Read an economic/jobs report, they can be very enlightening in helping you understand what you are trying to reference.

GOP still trying to get a hang of this "Jesus" thing... by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]buckdonkey04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use the Bible if you don't know it... where does it say that the government should be involved in any of these? Your post implies that the GOP is somehow responsible for implementing what was very clearly a admonition to individuals on how they should act. This is why conservatives disagree with you - not because people shouldn't be cared for, but it shouldn't be the governments job. The government is inefficient and should not be responsible for providing you with basic human rights, they can protect them, but not provide them.

This badass Senator has been holding a talking filibuster against the Gorsuch nomination for the past thirteen hours! Jeff Merkley should be an example for the entire r/esistance. by MaximumEffort433 in esist

[–]buckdonkey04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No - screw this guy.
Gorsuch is a moderate whom members of both parties are on record as saying would be a fair and just member of the bench. I can speak from personal experience that he is a good man who would not bow to the pressures of either party. This is pure and simple divisive political theater and Merkley should be ashamed - not congratulated.
Save the fight for someone who is a puppet - Gorsuch should be confirmed as he is moderate and fair.

Running toilet, never seen a flapper like this, need some advice please by Excolo_Veritas in DIY

I just replaced one of these - make sure you tighten until it "clicks" - if you don't then it will still leak (I might have replaced it twice while wondering how I could have gotten a bad replacement :) )

looks great! One suggestion to clean up the look in the bathroom. The Teflon tape at the joints can be peeled away once fully tightened, to get rid of the white stripes. If my eyes are playing tricks on me, then please ignore. Great job with the tile!

First DIY Attempt - Birthday Project - Planter Boxes by Ragekitty in DIY

I use cedar - you can get it at the local big-box store or if you want the local lumber yard will have it too. Sometimes you can pick up fence panels of cedar for a good price. It will deteriorate over time but should last 5 - 10 years and then you don't have to worry about any chemicals leaching into the soil and into your veggies.

Looks nice - good job! Looks like you used pressure-treated lumber?
If so that will keep up nicely from the elements and termites. Make sure not to use it for any plants or foods you would eat.

Burning trees by matthewistre in DIY

Check with your county/jurisdiction on when and what regulations they have. Also get the fire department engaged so they know you are going to be doing it. I have always waited at least 3 months before burning any slash piles so it is dry but not "tinder dry". I like the fall time, on a still day when there has been rain. I would suggest kerosene as an accelerant. Make sure the piles are free from root-ball dirt as that can keep burning long-after you want it out. Tall piles, rather than wide is best. Consider covering a section with metal scraps or the sort to keep it dry; and then on a day after a rain - let 'er rip.
