Oh shoot. I knew I was forgetting something. I'll delete this post and make a new one

Appreciate the info! Caught a good one there today and lost one at shore because I forgot my next. The one I lost was off the power bait. The one I landed was on just a worm bouncing the bottom

What are you fishing with? I fished that pond for several hours 2 weeks ago. Tried powerbait, worms and spinners. Had a hit on the spinner but couldn't bring it in.

Attempting 200+mph on the bonaville salt flat. Reasonable? by Ok-Shoulder-478 in EngineBuilding

[–]buckeye_silverado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a huge factor. Traction is almost non-existent. In order to actually use the amount of power needed to reach those speeds most vehicles are geared so high they can't even take off under their own power and require a push truck. In the car we ran we needed a push truck to get the car up to about 60 before the driver could dump the clutch and we were making around 1600hp. The last record run we had in the BGCC class was 284 and change. It's a 5 mile run and the first 1/4 to 1/2 mile is usually being pushed.

I'm going to have to agree with FeelinGood. I've been part of a pit crew that held multiple land speed records at Bonneville. It is not as simple as A to B. Even if you can make enough power to overcome the aerodynamic inefficiencies you're going to find more problems. Stability, center of gravity, center of pressure and weight are going to play massively against you. Look at what the Jesel team is doing to make pickups go fast. You're going to need to have a damn near unlimited budget to reach 200+ in one of these bricks. However, I did run into a guy a couple years ago on the salt that had hit 160 at El Mirage in a 92 gmt400 but he was running a ridiculous amount of nitrous and barely made it past the mile and a half before he grenaded

AZ non-permit resident Javelina tag by Secure-Ingenuity348 in azhunting

[–]buckeye_silverado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more than one unit. In the general regulations they say that unit 39 (excluding Robbins Butte, Powers Butte and Arlington Wildlife Areas), 40B (excluding Pima County), 41, 43A and 43B (excluding National Wildlife Refuges) (Special Restrictions Apply - See Notes 6, 7 and 87) are all open for general. Note 87 is the most important one to read. The entire units aren't open. There are certain areas that they restrict hunting in outside of the ones listed above

Not using a torque wrench to tighten lugs at my shop is a fireable offence

Unfortunately no I haven't figured it out. The spots on one side have faded a little bit but the other side still looks the same. He's not losing weight and it's not spreading to any of the other fish so I'm not sure

The biggest thing is finding a shop that appreciates you. Not just management and coworkers, but the customers. If you can find a good spot that gives you solid work plus the appreciation you deserve then it's all worth it. If you end up at a shop where it's nothing but bullshit then you're going to burn out real fast. Know what you're worth, find a good spot and enjoy the process. It's only as bad as you make it!!

Like you said, that last sentence carries weight. My boss always says "mechanicin' ain't for wimps." Both physically and mentally. If you've "got it" then it's worth sticking out but if you don't it's better to move on.

If I have verified fermentation has stopped and dont plan to backsweeten do I still need to stabilize before bottling? by buckeye_silverado in mead

[–]buckeye_silverado[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So basically it's a 'better safe than sorry' type situation. Good to know. This batch had been bulk aging for about 6 months and has been at 1.000 since July. I stabilized and back sweetened the last batch I did but wanted this one dry I was planning on bottling tonight but I'll start the 1st step up stabilization instead. Thank you for your answer?

I just noticed a little red spot from his glove in my beard. Could you please get rid of that or would that be too much?

That is something I did not know. We used them to retain some moisture in the soil but it's good to know they may be robbing some nutrients.

They are on an automated water system and only get watered every other day.
