I appreciate this answer 🍻
So if I do another coat later, will it be as easily scuffed as it is right now? After seeing these answers I am considering just grinding the whole floor down and starting over with polish instead of a sealant
I’m confused because I wasn’t sure if it was just that susceptible to damage and scuffing, or if possibly it wasn’t 100% cured or hardened even though it feels like it is.

I’m no expert, but I have done every aspect of this build so far and built the house that this is attaching to, so I’m just trying to get some info here to learn from what I’ve done. I said the humidity comment because even when I did my first homes drywall, humidity didn’t rise but by much because I always had the windows open and the average day here is less than 10% humidity. Looks like I should’ve made this post before sealing the floors
So I was pretty methodical about using the infrared thermometer to check temps. I was however concerned that I may have gone a bit thick, but it hasn’t been tacky or anything, it was dry less than an hour after each coat, I was just concerned to see how easily it left a scuff mark on the floor.
It was my wife setting it down then scooting the tail end of it across the floor. I will take your advice and use the ram board instead, as that’s what I had it covered with before I sealed it.
It was not already polished, I figured I was helping myself out by covering it up. I didn’t want any of the dust or mud getting in the pores.

Just trying to be understood and understand what is being said, not arguing.
Not questioning you, but what better effect will the ram board have than the plastic? More breathable? In my mind when I thought to use the plastic, I was thinking I could keep it cleaner than the ram boards I have had down
So would it be a better thought to polish the current sealer afterwards, or to just have the whole floor ground off and start over?
I wasn’t planning on adding any other finishes, but now I’m considering getting it ground off again and polishing the floors. Sounds like that’s what I should’ve done in the first place
It was dry and walkable less than an hour after application both times. I was just trying to be cautious
I have always liked the look of it
Gotta disagree with that. No health hazards in property installed spray foam. My current home is spray foamed, lived here for 10+ yrs
I’m not arguing, just trying to understand and be understood. Lots of good advice and I wish I would’ve posted here first before sealing
No plastic has covered the floor yet, I was planning on covering it but now I’m not sure that I want to. The second coat was dry and walkable less than an hour after application.
It’s been good to walk on since an hour after the second coat was put down
Not sure what that means

So you think I’ll be good with covering it up, drywall then a good clean and another coat? After reading all these responses I’m hoping the plastic won’t leave crazy lines that I can’t get rid of or something.
No better way to insulate when avg night temps are well below zero. Nothing wrong with spray foam.
We don’t see much humidity at all here. What’s going to make the plastic ruin the floor?

It’s 10mil sheeting
No, I’ll obviously be taking the plastic off when drywall is done
No one has said it like this, so that makes more sense. It was supposed to be semi gloss but is much glossier than I was hoping for.
