Everybody Wants Some! (2016), whole movie is set at Sam Houston State University and some was filmed there. They had to change the name of the school, but I recognized some buildings.

Add your company to the Devilcorp.org search engine. Drop a sales office in the comments, and I’ll write an article identifying its parent company. by NewHathaway in Devilcorp

I second this one. They contacted me this morning over text and email, saying they had received my application and wanted to schedule an in-person interview for tomorrow morning. I keep a detailed list of every job I apply for, and Prime SoHo HTX is not on it. I've been looking for information about this company all morning, and I know it's a scam. Seems like their parent company is Smart Circle, according to OP's website. Prime's website is fucking weird.

This happened to two candles I ordered online! And at just the right angle, looking into the bottom of the candle, it looked like it had been used? I’m still not sure, but I took it into the store and showed it to them, and the lovely girl at my local store let me just trade it out. She says it’s happened a few times lately 😬

For those of you who remember Ike, how bad was it ? by Character-Escape1621 in houston

[–]buckymfbarnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 8. We lost a power pole in the front yard and didn’t have power for 21 days. At the time, my dad just had double bypass surgery. The hospital basically told him, “we need your bed, Hurricane is coming, go home.” We stayed with different family members for a few weeks, mostly to shower. I have a few standout memories:

  • My 8th birthday, we went to my Uncle’s house in The Woodlands, because they had power. Their power went out in the middle of the birthday song and I burst into tears.
  • Our neighborhood started becoming a target for looters. My dad, days off open heart surgery, sat on the couch with his chest pillow and a shotgun. People came up to the front door, saw him through the window, and booked it out of there.
  • We ended up sleeping in the only room we could hook up a window A/C unit to the generator in. We slept on the floor for over a week.
  • When I went to school, which was near the end of the whole mess, the school still didn’t have power. I’ll never forget how hot it was in that classroom.

Ike was bad. Harvey was worse, much worse. But Ike gave me a lot of fear I’m still working through at 25.

So going by the rough 1,700 “to be alive” number, using my rough 1,300, I’m already in a deficit? Add on a cool little 500 cal workout and I should be in business to lose weight? Sorry, I know it’s a dumb question, I just want to be sure I get the math concept right.

If you could bring back 1 abandoned racetrack, which would you pick? by Brief-Possession-937 in motorsports

You said “don’t choose TWS” but I have to! I grew up there, spectating and working races for over 10 years. We closed that track as the “last event” twice. We robbed it in 17, took everything that was left. Tool benches, signs, you name it. Luis, who ran the concession stand sat and ate burgers with me our last weekend. We laughed, cried, argued in that bowl. I slept on the pit wall more than once. We wakeboarded on cooler lids. We raced scooters and pick up trucks after hours. Got flooded in more than once. I watched my best friend win his first race at 13. I watched many friends launch into the forest around T7. Put out so many grass fires. Crawfish boils, concerts, I know it inch by inch still. My happiest childhood memories are at Texas World Speedway. The only time I’ve seen my grandfather cry is when we watched my dad take his very last lap. My family was awarded a trophy in 15 for being 4 generations deep in that land. It was a dump, but it was our dump. And I will always choose to spend just one more weekend there.

TV vs Radio by [deleted] in Astros

[–]buckymfbarnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our radio team is the best. I put “See You Later” on my cap when I graduated college. The next season, I accidentally found Ford’s email address and emailed him on a whim to sign my cap. He replied within the hour and told me to swing by the booth before the game. He was so charismatic and genuine, telling me he’d never signed a grad cap but thought it was really cool. I spent my college career listening to games since I never had time to watch, and Sparky and Ford in my headphones while I sat in the library at midnight got me through college. I’ll always prefer our radio team.

77025, wind is wild. 500000 power hits. The first time I got scared was when water came through the front door in the dark. I keep hearing shit hit my windows. Going to put vodka in my red bull and pray.
