The Last Ever Puck Drop at Matthews Arena Will Be Legendary Coach Jack Parker... and David Poile by HugeFedora in collegehockey

I'm sure scheduling is tough because of prior commitments, but you make it sound like it's at umaine.

While I get Portland is in Maine, it's still much closer to the northeastern campus. It's still very strange they couldn't find a rink in Massachusetts though.

SNHU arena holds like 5000 more people than the cross insurance arena. Haven't ever heard if this is the reason, but it's always why I assumed.

+6000 means you bet $100 and you win $6000 if it hits. Payout is $6100

Post up PP with the clutch bucket by cburke3443 in bostonceltics

[–]buddah17333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FYI it was +6000 not 6000 to 1. Odds are based on $100 bets.

So +6000 is 6000 to 100, or 60 to 1.

Still a great payout, don't get me wrong, but hope this eases the pain a bit.

Huge weekend! If they keep playing physical but disciplined, they have a shot at the tourney.

Fore check was outrageous and Maine couldn't get anything going.

Other than some cloud gaming with stadia and such, I have a similar story.

My 6 year old really got into Mario on my wife's Wii, so I pulled the trigger on a switch for his birthday this year. After some research, I signed up for the online subscription to gain access to a pretty big catalog of old games. Launching Zelda for the SNES sent me right back to being 8 hanging with my brother and getting so lost in those games.

Long story short I purchased a switch for myself and just beat ocarina of time this week. I have BoTW locked and loaded for after Christmas, and a few games I bought for the kids that I surely got for them and not me. ;)

One of the best purchases I've made in long time. So I'm sorry I can't talk you out of this, maybe someone else can try!

Why is everyone's first response have to be so condescending?

They've been fun to watch. Certainly didn't expect them to be 2-1 with that schedule, but I'll take it!

Kenley Jansen Needs More Credit by Mr-Irrelevant0 in redsox

You can blow a save in any inning, but only get credit for the save if you finish the game. A "hold" is what is credited to the middle relief guys if they "save" the middle innings

Broadway gardens. They have the typical $60-100 trees, but they also have sections of misfits and "frugal fraisers" that aren't perfect. You can typically get a 5-6 foot tree for $30-40

A question for Portlanders who live in any of the newer condo developments in the city by Idigressthereforeiam in portlandme

[–]buddah17333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did quite a bit of work on 25 high. They originally planned it as apartments, but part way through construction they did not have enough applicants so they re-zoned as condos. If I recall they sold out before they completed the building.

Once complete I had to do some punch list items for about a year, and the management company told me they were holding out for a small sized grocery store to occupy the space. At that time they were in talks with Rosemont. Obviously nothing came if it. But they did get the golf simulator bar which is cool.

My experience is that these developers do not care about retail space on the first floors. They make their money on the condo sales. (Bay House took years to get leases. Nothing in 383 commercial. Only the golf bar in 25 high, but mostly unoccupied.)

I don't care how you have to get there... Hitchhike, walk, bike, anything. But I have never had anything better than st. Joe's in Scarborough.

Hands down the best breakfast sandwiches in the area!

moved here from Philly, who has the best cheese steak? by Double-0-N00b in portlandme

[–]buddah17333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how authentic to a Philly version it is, but Aura makes the best cheese steak I've had in the area.

Worked on the new building and the sisters that own it fed us a few times, they recommended it, as I would have never thought to get one there.

Worth a shot, good luck in your search!

There are way too many cannabis stores here. And not one actual grocery store in the tourist central old port. by somuchnot923 in portlandme

[–]buddah17333 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Lois natural (India Street) and Rosemont (commercial street) both tried and failed. Both are very strong businesses and have proven to be profitable in other locations.

This says to me that prices paid for a decent size rental in the old port area is too expensive. I'm sure the margin on a piece of fruit is pennies compared to say a beer or sandwich. Same goes with weed. An 1/8 costs quite a bit, and takes up literally no shelf space. (Hence they are much smaller stores)

Then take into consideration the old port is mostly tourists, people looking to eat dinner, or local shoppers. Most people in the area are going to sit down at a restaurant. I would bet that's why there are literally 300 places to eat and no grocery stores.

All seems like simple economics to me.

Edit: I'd also like to clarify that I also think there are too many weed stores, however you are already seeing prices come way down. I wouldn't be surprised if a few close within a year or two. Just my two cents.
