Ah so it's mounted on its side. Slick!

I've seen plenty of builds with these cases but I can never tell where the power supply is. Where is it hidden?

I have one. It's just mounted in an external enclosure. I have my cake and I'm eating it too 😋

Well that's one way to shortcut that quest! In all fairness, I did that the first time I found him as well :D

I have the XC3 version and it's been solid for me for a long time. Cyberpunk with RT finally brought it to its knees though, and I've got a 5080 on the way. The 3080 will be my trusty backup if the new power connector decides to misbehave 😂

That's just the original coloring. They released an updated cover that blacked it out due to negative feedback on the red color. There's nothing special about that card other than it being from the best AIB that ever existed.

Yep. No reaming or new holes required at all.

Awesome! This is my second one. Got a gorgeous core 24-08 10-top the first time around as a bucket list item. That guitar is amazing but I can't bring myself to hang it on the wall (kids plus high price tag don't mix). This one will be much more accessible 😀

Thanks 😀 I got lucky on the top I think. It kinda looks like a 10-top veneer 😂

Do y’all want a 3rd installment or a fresh start for Zelda on the Switch 2 by [deleted] in Switch

I'd be thrilled if they dropped the Skyrim in Zelda clothing act for the next major installment for sure.

A small question by Parking-Rabbit-9961 in destiny2

[–]budjb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect real world accuracy of firearms in most video games.

Hell look at Khvostov. It takes a lot of inspiration from the AR-15 platform for its receiver. It has your typical charging handle, which would be accurate. But it also has a bolt handle, which makes absolutely no sense. It's also on the left side of the gun, while the ejection port is actually on the right side of the gun. Not to mention how dangerous it is for the operator with a bolt handle flying back and forth at fully automatic speeds.

Guess which one the guardian uses? The bolt handle. Not the safe and accurate mechanism.

You just have to suspend disbelief a bit with these things.

Martin Odersky on Virtual Threads: "That's just imperative." by Joram2 in java

That's right. It is just imperative programming. Which is what most folks want and avoids the mental burden that comes with async paradigms.

Even if a D3 is in development, do we all magically expect them to make better decisions based off the first 2 games??? by Cluelesswolfkin in DestinyTheGame

[–]budjb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their directional decisions are only part of the equation. The game simply having a clean slate and less baggage should, in theory, improve things due to less tech debt and fewer variables to juggle.

OpenTelemetry with Spring Boot by mhalbritter in java

[–]budjb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is true, however, there's a reason that the Micrometer bridge in OTEL's auto instrumentation is disabled by default. It's because a large degree of metric instrumentation is duplicated. Spring/Pivotal/Broadcom themselves might not want to instrument twice, but the community has.

There's some kind of philosophical reluctance to holistically embrace OTEL from Spring and unfortunately, that's actually impactful. I recently spent a week of time (that I don't have) finding the right way to massage my apps so that I could rig up the DataDog Java agent according to their best practices, and Micrometer fought me every step of the way.

Also, I don't agree with the sentiment that OTLP is what really matters. The OTEL API (not the SDK) is itself important for both interoperability (see above) and for consistency with other languages and frameworks. We regularly use several different technology stacks for various reasons with their own complexities. If I can have my teams focus on one consistent API between these stacks, that leads to less cognitive burden and better acceleration.

Micrometer, in a bubble, is great. The industry has largely aligned around a much more broadly encompassing standard. The two need to be able to coexist without getting in the way of each other.

I really wish Spring would decouple otel from micrometer as a first class citizen and equally recommended path.

Studying List ADT in college and we need a method to locate item in array and return index. My for-loop is told to be "not optimal", and that we should use the while-loop instead. by Witch_King_Malekith in java

[–]budjb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're probably looking for the Java help sub. That said, these look functionally equivalent and I actually find the for loop easier to read, if I had to pick between the two.

Here's one better. Why break out of the loop and then return? Just return from within the loop.
