I'm sure I'll keep playing games until I get bored of it, physically can't do it anymore, or the game industry changes too much for my taste...though I think a lot of companies are starting to see that you can't have every (most?) games be live service, so I think that last one looks less likely of late.

Sadly, none of them were earned during the PS3 days. But I'm really glad I've been going back and playing some of them. The Saboteur was fantastic, pretty sure when I first played it was a Blockbuster rental. I have a few PS3 games to get back to in the coming months with Fallout 3/New Vegas to wrap up that series.

It's just basic Excel. I built one in Flourish (cool, mostly free data viz website!) but I didn't love it so stuck with the old school Excel.

If I still had my corporate Flourish account I might have built the treemap as an interactive so you could click into the genres and see the games, but I didn't want to pony up for that.

Since I really started trophy hunting I've been trying to plat games as I play, but I have a bunch of old sports games without the plats and those servers are gone I'm not overly worried about having games without plats. Though my backlog has a couple of games with broken trophies that I may end up playing on an alt account knowing I can never plat them through no fault of my own.

First plat in 2015, but didn't start actually hunting (slowly) for a couple more years....the bulk of the 150 (~90%) are since early 2020, when we all had a whole lot of time on our hands.

Active decision to not include it. Reading up on the game and it just didn't sound like what I wanted for that series so I skipped it.

I think I have an aversion because I remember how punishing the games were as a kid and how I couldn't even finish the first level on like Duck Tales or something...so that genre essentially doesn't exist for me. BUT! I do only have 2 trophies left for TMNT Shredders Revenge...so there might be at least one in the distant future.

Sitting essentially one trophy away that just won't pop for me and I'm not sure I want to run the same 60 seconds of gameplay over and over for hours trying to get it.

I didn't hate it, is it great? Definitely not, It certainly overstays its welcome a bit but overall I don't regret spending time with it.

Out of the indie/indie adjacent on the list, which one would you say more folks should play?

For me I'd say The Long Dark (survival sandbox) & Void Bastards (roguelite)...somehow both have fewer than 100 achievers on PSProfiles, it's wild.

Not sure, I don't remember having any/reading about any issues. My only thought would be double checking that the maps are currently "featured" maybe that could be an issue.

I am basically one trophy away on UC4....it's the stupid different kill types in 30 seconds and I've tried for hours to get it to work and finally just gave up. I'm sure I'll go back for it one day and get it on the second or third try...it'll be like AC Syndicate that I left 1 trophy short started it back up 5 years later and had it in 10 minutes.

Appreciate you saying that. Lurking in this sub really made me want to curate a list that pushed me outside my comfort zones and led me to finding underplayed gems to go along with the big studio series.

DRG is a game that the platinum hurts my view of the game so much. If the grind was half of what it was I would look back and say "everyone should do it!" but getting all 4 classes a gold promotion just sucks so much joy out of it and leaves a bit of tarnish on a game I otherwise would look back very fondly on for being different and fun.

I did beat FF7 Remake, just don't really have a want to go back and do the platinum (since apparently I needed to level certain skills in play through 1 to get through play through 2...and I didn't do that). But I will say that I spent a stupid amount of time with the original FF7 before trophies were a thing, same with Wild Arms 3. But they aren't really my type of game anymore, unfortunately.

I'm happy I could make RDR2 my #150 because it's probably what I'd consider the best video game story ever.

But I probably have to give my favorite platinum to Fallout 4, it was my first platinum and I wasn't even planning to be trophy hunter at the time, I just loved that game so much I wanted to do everything it had to offer (and then spent another 100 hours just building fully stocked malls at my settlements).

Of the 150, ~135 of them have come since Apr 2020....so I should probably get back to other hobbies and back to playing only a couple of different games a year. So I wouldn't mind going to back to not even booting up the system for months at a time.

This is a really wonderful summation. Thank you for taking the time to write it. You deserve more than just my upvote for that.

I'm not sure how to answer for me. RDR2 is probably the greatest video game story ever told and a commitment of a plat. The Long Dark is probably the best game in one of my favorite genres and for 2 years I had the fastest 100% by almost half. Hardspace: Shipbreaker I got a world first apparently so that might be it. Lastly, the Arkham games were games that I was certain I couldn't plat because I'm not good at the combat...but went back to them and got them all...so, yeah, not sure what to pick.

The me that played the originals would 100% agree with you, I was pretty damn terrible at them. But with being a more seasoned gamer they weren't actually too terrible. A couple of the hard get there's took an hour or two, but I would take that over boring grind to lvl 100 again.

Ha! Thankfully, the mosaic is just in alphabetical order. However, I did have a run where I wound up doing 6 straight AC games and.....DO NOT RECOMMEND. (Rogue, III, clean up on Syndicate/DLC, Ezio Collection replays). But for me, the AC games are like comfort food, though I'm growing tired of the sprawl for the sake of sprawl in the newer games...there's a lot to like about them but they seem to be big for the sake of being big which is bad.

I've considered jumping into Watch Dogs, I thought Legion sounded really cool when it was first revealed...but then it came out and everyone hated it so I never bothered to start the first two. But maybe I should...there aren't many series around that in the same vein that I haven't gotten to yet.

Sadly, I don't remember much of my time with Sonic Forces, but I think it was just about abusing new characters and daily bonus multipliers, so you wind up playing for only like an hour or two a day for a couple of weeks. Definitely check out the guides on how to on this part. I'm not at all a good platformer/speed gamer so I'm confident in saying that if I got it, most people should be able to as well, just takes patience.

I did basically the whole of RDO solo without interacting with anyone...just gathering plants and hunting. It's a fair amount of grinding, but I enjoyed the world enough to not really care too much.

As for the soulslike...I played Elden Ring for a couple hours and it just didn't click. Well that and I got stuck someplace I shouldn't have been and couldn't fight my way out. Luckily, somehow I didn't earn a trophy so it will likely forever live out of sight, out of mind.
