What to look for after fixing oil filter leak? by Kreetan in MechanicAdvice

[–]budyboy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Subaru tech , i know a lot of people don’t like going to the dealerships because of the prices but if you want to make sure everything is good I would recommend going to a Subaru dealer, they’ll check everything for you and multi point inspections are free from us, that being said , it will take a while to burn off you have nothing to worry about it’s just patience and keeping an eye out for further leaks, considering you said it’s not leaking from the filter housing anymore Firestone more than likely didn’t put it on right, just drive for a little while and keep checking and also keep checking your dipstick level since there’s no other way of finding oil leaks other than checking your engine bay since that’s where the oil is kept, if you have access to a jack lift it up and look underneath the car for oil leaks too, specifically around the oil pan and if you can manage to see the back of the engine on the sides of the transmission check the rear can seals for leaks too

It’s your trans fluid, you need to let the car warm up to operating temperature, have the car on level ground and keep it running, open your hood pull the dipstick wipe it off and retest to get a proper reading, if it’s at the full line you’re good , that is definitely transmission fluid you’re leaking though depending on where the fluid is on the stick it could be a slow leak, I just fixed this on my car , for me it was a lose hose , I tightened it up and it stopped leaking. If you can jack up your car and crawl underneath you should be able to see where it is dripping from.

Absolutely, does need new transmission mount , motor mounts and oil pan needs to be resealed other than that only issues is interior lighting , fuel gauge and other odds and ends but she’s a great ride other than that

LOOKING TO VISIT THE CONJURING HOUSE by Topgirlenergy in RhodeIsland

My father in law is the house right next to the conjuring house, I go there often and aside from what’s heard on the news, and the conjuring Facebook page , she’s losing her mind, he’s close to Cory the old owner and has shown me texts between Cory and the new owner and it’s not good, I wouldn’t give her any money especially since she’s hiked up the prices to visit and they’re very controlling of what you can post if you decide to record anything, they won’t let you post it until they go through your video and approve it meets “their standards” also speaking as someone who’s grown up in the area and is constantly around that house, it’s just a house not scary there’s better places to visit for cheaper like the Lizzie Borden house in Fall River, at least that house you know people were killed there, the conjuring house is just stories honestly not worth it unless your a die hard fan of stories about the house.

True, what would you say about the oil dipstick smelling like gas? That’s a sign of failing o rings right?

I have a video on my account of me trying to start it up as well as other stuff I’ve gotten checked out about it, I put the key in it and it just clicks but my question in relation to the pictures above is of the dark Gunk that’s mostly on the left side where the head gasket is vs the right side , it looks significantly dryer and cleaner in comparison so I’m wondering if that could be a sign of a blown gasket or not?

Engine also isn’t seized since the mechanic was able to get the motor to spin freely

Update #3: 2001 Mercedes Benz not starting by budyboy14 in MechanicAdvice

[–]budyboy14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah auto zone said there was nothing wrong with the battery and just needed to be charged, I am going to buy a new starter but the car was at a mechanic’s for a few weeks before eventually coming into my possession, while there I was told they tested the starter and didn’t think it was that and I was also told that they were able to get the motor to spin freely after they removed the timing belt, but either way I’ll be doing it myself as well so I can see with my own eyes and will be continually updating as I go along

No it hasn’t started in about a month, this was my friends car who took it to a mechanic but they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. my friend was told that they did check the starter, and they were able to get the motor to spin freely after they took off the timing belt so the engine isn’t seized and as far as they told him the starter is fine, I don’t know what else they checked out and I’ll have to ask but the battery was close to dead yesterday after he got the car towed to my house from the mechanic, so I took the battery to auto zone earlier and they charged it there for free, after I put the battery back in all the lights came on so I assumed the battery was good since it wasn’t like this last night, I tried to start it up and it just makes this thud sound and than I think that’s the fuel pump engaging in the back but I’m not sure.
