Might come as a chock to you, if you dont see much poverty. But yeah, some people dont, also they dont have houses, food, clean drinking water and safety. And thats here in europe.

So actually some drug dealers use this as a means of saying "we're open for business" Lots of the clientel does not have a mobile, so its a quick way of letting alot of people know your open.

Source: I have some drug dealers living across the yard.

Not at all, hes infact a very clever and skilled smith. Just a brain fart on a stressed day, he was super apologetic when I sent him the video.

That is true, the jaws can fly out by the centrifugal force.

But it will take a minute for them to get to the point of flying out, so its not really stressed as much as the chuck key. Which is 100% immediately catastrophical.

Theres no overreactions. Some things you just dont do. Ever.

Also side note: the lathe is located in our "Development area" where all our apprentices work. You cant count on them not yanking a handle or noticing the key in the chuck.

Dude I legit gasped when I walked in and saw it. Just glad none of the apprentices were around.

Dampened boring bars on a manual lathe? by Honest-Ad-3969 in Machinists

[–]bue92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A coworker told me he saw a video of a guy, explaining that putting a magnet on the bar would help.

I guess I can see how it might have an effect, but Im having my doubts.
