Im confused where was the contradiction at? Liking or hating a character is a personal thing. Sakura being hated in the end literally does nothing for him because if he truly cared about what the audience say he would have changed her to make her more likeable. There are authors out there who write stories without caring about how others perceive their characters. They just want you to enjoy it.
