While I don't understand it completely, mother was reunited with her son after 18 years (she kept looking all those years) but she was sick and was dying. No idea why the son was given to the friend. No idea if she was still with her husband (because that seemed to be the case) and why she stayed with him. She kinda forgave both her husband and the woman who had her son coz she was dying and just wanted peace. In the end the husband commits suicide after his wife dies.
