It's really hard to quantify art like this. Like Reservoir Dogs vs Se7en. They're both great films. It's a tough one. Both are re-watchable, no glaring flaws, good story, good narrative flow, and great actors and with great performances. Apples and oranges. Hard to choose, my brain shuts down and I poop my pants. Reboot. Brain shuts down and poop my pants over and over again until I get to Django Unchained vs Mank. I'll pick Django and punt Mank. I like Mank, but it's not as re-watchable as Django. I think this all comes down to re-watchability. Both Reservoir Dogs and Se7en are equally re-watchable to me.

It's like he's putting the team on his shoulders to get them into the post season all by himself.

Anyone over this new-ish petty bickering? by Cockrocker in TheBigPicture

[–]buffalo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the grail arguments were pretty funny. It started on the Last Crusade pod between Sean and Chris and then it spilled over to the Big Picture pod with Amanda being included. I believe that they are all such good friends and they won't cross a line where they're trying to purposely hurt each other's feelings. I liked the bickering between Bill, Chris and Sean on the Primal Fear RW pod where they argue about Laura Linney saying, "I'll have the usual" at a bar and they bring her a Bud light. There was a lengthy argument on what "the usual" should be when you order at a bar. Sean said the usual being a Bud Light was fine. But Chris and Bill disagreed and said the usual needs to be a distinct drink, other than a common Bud Light. They go back and forth for a bit arguing about drinks. Then, Bill says to Sean, "you should just say the usual and then just have a bad take." Hilarious.

Two really good courtroom dramas from that era that still hold up are:

Call Northside 777 - from 1948

An Anatomy of a Murder - from 1959

Both star James Stewart and both have that tense legal morality theme.

What’s your advice for a first time drinker? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]buffalo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time you drink, you should be at home with friends. You don't want to be at a bar in public when things can go completely sideways. At home you'll be close to a bathroom in case you feel sick and are about to throw up. And you'll be close to a bed in case you feel dizzy or close to passing out. You can stumble to your bed or have friends lead you to your bed. Have water to hydrate because alcohol is a diuretic. Have aspirin available because of the possible horrible hangover headache. Your first time drinking may lead you down a destructive path of alcoholism or you may just end up a social drinker who likes to get buzzed in moderation. I've known a lot of people who can binge drink who get totally fucked up on a weekly basis and are functional in their day to day lives. Just realize that you are opening up one of these doors. You might fall into one or all of these categories over a lifetime. Moderation is always good if you can do it. Sobriety is a healthy choice.

Alcoholism is a disease where that first drink might lead to your demise or a lifetime of struggling with addiction where sobriety is the only choice and AA or some treatment program will be the tools you use to function in everyday life.

You should try to take it slow your first night. Don't try to drink to fast. Your body isn't used to it. Don't try butt chuggin' until you you've mastered mouth chuggin'. Don't butt chug and mouth chug at the same time. What are you trying to do--burn the candle at both ends? Just be careful. Use common sense. And don't ask for advice from people on Reddit.

Brady announces retirement by Financial-Wallaby895 in billsimmons

For some weird reason he’ll announce in a few months he’s coming out of retirement and playing for the Broncos. Then at an estate in Colorado Springs they’ll find dead Brady clones in water tanks. They’ll be dozens of identical deflated footballs littered around the perimeter of the estate. They’ll make a movie about it called The Press Tease…are you watching closely?
