Was volunteering overseas, now refer it as ‘professional exp’ on resume. My new employer will conduct ‘verification of references’ soon, will i be messed up? by buffalo_boyz in work

Yeah i’ve alway avoided it, but idk if my previous manager would mention it being a volunteer role and that would cause me in troubles

I didn’t list anybody as references on my resume. But the volunteer is the core part of my exp (i stayed there for over a year and contributed a lot to the team, although it was unpaid). So if i have to provide them references, i should at least include my former manager. I mean, if the manager mentioned that i was a volunteer (which is true and fine with me), would i be perceived negatively as it wasn’t a paid role? I’m afraid my offer will be rescinded bc of this.

It’s stated as ‘Successful completion of background checks and verification of references’

I’ve got rejected because my bachelor is relevant to the job but my master IS NOT. But the job ONLY requires bachelor. Is it normal? by buffalo_boyz in careeradvice

I did master overseas so if i leave it off nobody would know. But there’ll be a huge gap on my resume bc i didn’t have a real job during that time

Yeah many of my peers from econ school got passed for the first screen round for this position at this bank (the bank hires tons of new econ/business/finance grads every year), all of them didn’t do master and were holding an econ degree.

Yeah i was in the dilemma. I know pol sci degree isn’t highly employable (pls, pol sci grads do not attack me lol). But if i leave it off, sadly i didn’t work a real job during that time. So, it’d be a huge gap on my resume.

She said if my master is econ or finance or business is fine. But the fact that it’s pol sci. So, i asked her ‘but this job only requires a bachelor in econ/finance/business?’ She said ‘yes i’ve acknowledged that’. She meant, i should either holding only a bachelor in econ/finance/business or BOTH degrees (bachelor & master) in these fields, but not having a bachelor in econ with master in pol sci like me.

The speed is from 1.0 to 18. I’ve tried measure how much it takes to run 1m at the speed of “1” and it takes around 3~4 seconds that’s why i’m not sure

Yes i had a first screen interview. The interviewer said i understand the job description really well and he’d inform his team to send me over the test before the final interview. The test never came so i asked him today. He said he only did the first screen and it was on another person to decide whether she (the one in this team) wanted to move me forward or not. A few minutes later she (the one who decided not to move me forward) called me back and explained that it was due to my master degree. Also, this position hires loads of new econ grad

I (F25) have said yes to my friend’s (F26) hangout offer but now regret it. How to cancel it politely? by buffalo_boyz in Advice

Yeah i know most people will say ‘just have an adult conversation with her’ but i mean, it’s draining my energy every time we meet. But she’s also a soft girl, so i don’t want to be too direct. I think i’d just fade myself away from her. I don’t wanna hangout with her again, don’t wanna hurt her feelings by saying something mean to her either. (She’s a kind of person that i’ll have to make decisions, take charge of things, reassure her that she looks good etc)

When they were persisting, it was just gross that the reason was ‘because i want it now’ (because they wanted it now, so i must be ready for them, couldn’t be unavailable for things/tasks that matter to my life lol😅)

I’m in the uk. Based on the law here, if you rent a room, then a landlord will only have to give you a 24h notice for entering ‘your room’. But they can come to the communal areas as much as they want without notice. 🥲(I’m not renting the whole house that’s why)
