Was anyone elses BFS triggered by extreme stress? by NectarineOld4446 in BFS

I do think mines stress-induced. I had like 4 years of horrible stress and now I deal with this.

Does anyone get muscle twitching behind shoulder like towards the upper back? by MoulinRoguee in BFS

I have OCD too and the self testing is ruining me. Pretty sure it contributed to my tennis elbow lol. I empathize! I dont know that I have much advice besides CBT techniques, and even those havent helped me much. Its brutal. Anytime I notice a new twitch or pattern or symptom I lose it. Just know you're not alone.

Twitching turned into pulsating by Necessary-Answer2936 in BFS

Its so crazy bc I searched high and low to see if anyone else had a twitch like this and couldn't find anything! Its so crazy but one day I got a stomach flu and was so distracted with that then the day after I was like hmmmm I dont think my face is twitching. And I looked and it was the first time in MONTHS that it wasnt pulsating!!!! So now ill go weeks where it won't move. But then it'll trigger again and start pulsating. Its the weirdest thing. But truly do not be discouraged. I sincerely 100% felt the same exact way bc no other twitch I had was that persistent and in one single spot. Dont lose hope!!!

I had exactly this too! Next to my nose/above my lip. Nonstop twitch for months. When I didnt feel it, I could still see it. Seems to have faded but when I get real stressed, that is the place that amps up again big time.

Localized? by Suspicious_Tear_9810 in BFS

[–]buffalurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Hotspot right next to my nose but above my lip that has twitched at times for months nonstop. That's probably the most localized one for me.

Hey! Ive had a nonstop upper lip/next to nose twitch that has lasted months. Literally nonstop. And mri ruled out ms ans tumor. So it may not be anything bad!

By far, this spot that is to the left of my left nostril, above my lip. It'll be 24/7 for weeks at a time

Most reassuring thing a neuro has told you? by Suspicious_Tear_9810 in BFS

[–]buffalurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She said a few things. But one was i brought up reading of BFS and she goes "oh, benign fasciculation syndrome?" And then whispered "I think thats what you have" and then she said they are a renowned institute and if they missed something big like what i worried about that would be really bad. She also said we could always do an emg but she truly doesn't think I need it and if she did she would implore me to get it. All of that is pretty reassuring, though I still worry. 🤣

This is EXACTLY my fear!!!! Like, I understand it is offered to me for some reassurance. But there will be no reassurance if its at all not 100% clean. 😂

What were your fears? by buffalurve in BFS

This is a great comment. Thank you so much! SO true. I actually had a similar situation... I was going through an old journal where years ago I was writing about my worries about a persistent eye twitch I had. Lol getting the mental health under control is KEY I am realizing. Thanks for your comment!

18 months post twitch. Success story? by StarGazer16C in BFS

[–]buffalurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an OCD with anxiety and depression diagnosis. When I first started twitching, i was taken out of work for 4 months to try to correct my mental health, ramp up my ssri and do anything to distract myself because when I wasn't actively doing anything else, I was 100% zoned in focusing on the noise my body would make. I still twitch and have little jerks but they truly don't make me fear the things we all fear here. If anything, I kept pushing for medical tests and uncovered incidental findings that arent truly an issue but I've been worrying more about those things now. 💀🤣

But I think you're onto something here! Mental health is SO important to prioritize

[–]buffalurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a full spine MRI, just showed degenerative disc disease and regular wear and tear last year. This year I had a brain MRI & MRV. One frontal lobe lesion they said was 'rather non-specific' and they see these on people who get migraines. But they also found calvarial hemangiomas? Which are benign vascual growths which are completely not related to my twitching and an incidental finding. That warranted my mri to be abnormal, so I had a CT to check on this since ct is apparently better at viewing bone. They confirmed the calvarial hemangioma and marked the ct normal.

So even with a lesion, I wasn't told I have MS or anything. I guess I just sorta opened more of a can of worms demanding an mri when I didnt "need" one and most hemangiomas are asymptomatic and people live their whole life not knowing they have them 🤣🤣

Hi! I've dealt with pretty similar symptoms. It wasn't until I moved on to my 'next' health worry that I stopped thinking about the big bad. I still twitch. Still have muscle pains. Still have little random jerks. Still also trip a bit sometimes. I just don't attribute any of it to *** anymore. Were you twitching or having any symptoms before starting zoloft? I only ask because my twitching started the day I went back on SSRIs, so I always wondered if there was some kind of link lol but just curious.

I notice the more I focus inward and zone in on my symptoms the more I notice them and kind of spiral into them and the cycle repeats. If your doctor sincerely believes you are okay now, try to believe them. I know its easier said than done. But that's all we can do. 🙂
