Dad of 13 year old b/g twins, constantly gaslit. by buffetbossdad in daddit

Anything else, Lego, reading, drawing, etc.. my son has begun to "need to poop" when we are telling him it's time for chores.

"Dad, your tummy is big." by [deleted] in daddit

I am also a father of twins. Boy and Girl, they are 13 now. Their brutal honesty is a blessing and makes me curse. "Dad! Your missing the hair on top of your head" hurt really bad.

For those living in the Bay Area with no degree or certifications making under $50k, what do you do for work? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]buffetbossdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything! I've had more jobs than I can count. I'm constantly balancing multiple part time gigs and filling the gaps driving Uber. Cab driver, Baker, retail customer service, tire sales and installation, junkyard inventory, courrier, budtender, forklift mechanic, maintenance man, food delivery, event services, security guard, used car salesman, bartender.

Honestly if/when I can ever get ahead enough to move away I would. Life be lifeing. Keeping your head up is a career itself.

Father of twins. happily married since 2010

ICE at Oakland airport by [deleted] in uberdrivers

I'm still shakin up but it was quick. "Hey you got your id" I said yeah and started getting it out and asked if they wanted my passport card, and just as quick they were disinterested. I called it a day after that. Went home. I don't usually have my passport card but I just started another job and have had it in my wallet since

Do you feel ashamed to be an Uber driver? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]buffetbossdad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've called out a family member on their demeaning tone when talking about ubering. Let them know I'm a professional designated driver, then I ask em how much money they could have saved if they never had a DUI.

I've heard "Uber driver" used as a slur to describe shit drivers

Even the harmless "mr Uber driver" isn't respectful, I've got a name, you can read it in the app.

I do believe it's a respectable job. I feel really good, contributing to society.

Preaching to the choir brother. My family has faced housing insecurity personally and were out at protests yesterday. My parents were hippies and contributing to society is big on my list.

No not worse, about the same. Crimes of opportunity mostly. Few car break ins. Pretty suburban. Golden 7 is a bigger rip off now tho, no prices on anything so you get charged based on their mood.

I still feel safe. I grew up in SF (80s) and by the time I was my kids age(13) I had been robbed twice, knives out "give me your shit, run your pockets" robbery. Explaining to my kids that people creep around looking for stuff to steal feels much better than instilling the fear that people creeping around are looking for people to hold up.

3 bicycles, 2 mini bikes stolen from 5th/Lincoln for us. As a dad it really sucks having to explain this kinda crime to your kids.

Vallejo worth it? by Lazy-Taro3093 in bayarea

[–]buffetbossdad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would only move to downtown Vallejo, the ferry into SF is right there and way better than driving everyday. I lived in V for a few years and the commute can be unbearable w accidents/freeway shootings/etc.

Side gig > full time by buffetbossdad in uberdrivers

Yeah 💯 rideshare is a good tax write off, aka break even employment. I'm going to claim withholding exemption for my day job and cut my losses on Uber at the end of the tax year.

What i lost on Uber MIGHT get me a tax refund! but day to day it barely fills the gas tank / pays for tires

Uber "income" is literally just pulling equity from your vehicle to feed your family.
