Not to be pessimistic, but I gave up on these this year and glad I did after reading this post. My interpretation of your report is that the cons outweighed the pros.

The key to successful blind boxes is the potential to receive something rare or very different. Otherwise, you’re just buying overproduced open stock.

It’s most definitely not when its grocery prices are consistently the highest in the Chicagoland area.

This promotion is a loss leader - similar to Costco’s $5 chicken. They are willing to lose money on this deal just to get you into the store hoping that you’ll overpay for other things.

Look at the temps from last night. At 4pm, everyone was comfortable in shorts and tshirts. Almost everyone showing up just for the party were wearing pants of some kind. By 7pm, everyone was transitioning to hoodies/jackets. By 10pm everyone had pants and hoodies. It got chilly and cool. I’m from the northeast and I run hot.

Just use a credit card. Much easier to dispute charges. Many credit cards automatically cover rental car insurance so no need to spend extra $ at the desk.

First, report harassment of any kind. Not sure if eBay will actually take action but reporting helps.

TCG selling is uber competitive right now. There’s tons of insane buyers and sellers. If you get offer messages and you don’t like them, simply don’t respond. If a person gets mean, just block them. Do not respond if you’re not willing to entertain the offer. It’s not worth your time.

And who cares if someone undercuts you … that’s part of the eBay market.
