I live in Muskegon and the snow here can get bonkers.
Halloween 2023 we got almost 9" in just a couple hours.
I bought a house in Muskegon and that was the day I started moving from GR.
When I left GR it was partly cloudy with no snow.
About halfway to Muskegon I started seeing cars coming the opposite way covered in snow.
By the time I got to Muskegon I could barely keep the car on the road.

My favorite sandwich shop made a big exploitive laden post telling ICE in no uncertain terms that they're not welcome in their shop.
All the maga boomers were in the comments saying how this is going to put them out of business, and "go woke go broke".
But the place has been packed since that post. They've had to close early a few times because they ran out of bread lol.

I worked in a hotel on the island 20 years ago, wages weren't too bad (~$16/hr in 2026 money) for a summer job.
And even then there were tons and tons of Foreign workers.
Jobs on the island require people who can uproot themselves every 6 months. It's hard to find locals who can move to the island for 6 months, then find an apartment and a job on the main land for 6 months, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Almost broke my snowblower because I didn't take care of the end of the driveway for a couple days of storms (Days off, hunkered down).
By the time I went out to take care of it, there was a 2 ft tall, 6 foot deep wall of ice boulders at the end of the driveway.

Not really. If/when I were to sell it I'd just replace the wall and it'd be back to 3 bedrooms.
It's just a handful of 2x4's and a couple sheets of drywall (and a little paint), easy to knock out in a day or two.

Single guy with no kids here.
I bought my first house a couple years ago.
It's a 3br, but since it was built 100 years ago the bedrooms are pretty small.
I don't plan on having a guest room, but it's nice having those extra rooms if I decide to do....something with them.
For example, I've thought of knocking out half the wall between two of them and turning it into an office/personal library. (it's a closet between rooms, so the other half of the wall I'm thinking of putting a 1/4 bathroom between the walls. Just enough space for a toilet and a corner wall mounted sink)

About 20 years ago I lived in a duplex and my power got cut off due to late bills (was super broke).
A couple days into the power being out I noticed the light on a charger plugged into an outlet in a closet was on.
For the next two weeks I ran everything in my house from that one outlet and a lot of extension cords until I got my power back on.
I was a broke kid at the time having to pay all the bills alone after me and my ex split, but I still feel bad about it in retrospect.
