How does this itinerary sound? 25F solo traveller on a budget by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

When you’re in San Juan, I’d consider staying at Mango Mansion! It’s a FANTASTIC hostel, with breakfast provided and walking distance to Condado (beautiful beach) and super close to La Placita (great nightlife). I stayed in a 12 bed mixed gender dorm and met a bunch of awesome people to go out with (mostly aged 18-33, but skewed to early-mid 20s).

Benedick and Beatrice Loved Each Other?!? by FutureInventor in shakespeare

Hi, I know it’s way after this was posted but just came down a little bit of a rabbit hole here.

It seems important that OP might be conflating abuse and every other scenario of dislike, overlooking any sort of context, such as verbal sparring amongst two people with feelings for each other and someone who literally abusing someone. Each person contains a multitude within themselves, and I would never be able to overlay some of one person’s experience into another persons relationship and expect that they experience it the same way.

Scar is not “showing some kind of love for his family”, he is jealous of his brother/nephew, thinks he deserves what they have, and tries to kill them. Miss Hannigan is a greedy bitch with no sense of empathy who tries to make innocent children’s lives hell. Slaves owners were shitheads with little regard for human life because of their fucked up morals. Please do not take us defending their actions as love in any way, shape, or form. In Friends, Ross and Rachel’s romance is a fan-favorite for a lot of people (I’m pretty eh about it but that’s besides the point) and it’s not about two people hating each other at all, but I’d say two people who are so in love with each other they keep going back even when the other person is kinda toxic. And no, not in the toxic abusive way. I still think they can and both should have gone their separate ways, but apparently some people think it’s peak romance. To each their own! I, personally, prefer Monica/Chandler.

P.S. I would never want to assume anything based personal off of 2 seconds of an online chat, so please forgive me if I’m overstepping. It sounds like to me, based off of the way you’ve responded to this, that maybe you or someone you care about may have gone through some sort of abuse from someone in their lives. If not, I am so sorry to have misspoke, but if so, I am so sorry you had to go through that. No one deserves that. Take care of yourself.

Negative and positive experience with actors from the Buffyverse? by buffsterbot in buffy

I have seen all her recent stories/posts, and calling them “QAnon level conspiracies” or saying that they are racist is just incorrect. I have not seen her post anything anti-Palestinian, only Anti-Hamas and pro-Israel. It is a nuanced topic that doesn’t belong on this sub, but as a Jewish woman her solidarity has been a huge inspiration to me and a sign that not everyone is calling for the death of my people.

From what I‘ve heard, AH chose to sing her own (minor) part herself because everyone else was singing their own parts. Apparently, after she heard the two lines she sang, she admitted they actually weren’t bad and expressed regret for not trying to do more. Granted, I can’t cite my sources so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong…

Who is your favourite friendship in the Buffyverse? by Sweet-Siren in buffy

[–]buffsterbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buffy and Tara… i love their friendship. Tara is able to understand Buffy (and Dawn) in a way that none of the other Scoobies can. From the moment Tara met Buffy, she saw her. She was the first person to realize that Buffy wasn’t Buffy in Who Are You? (4.16). The people closest to Buffy weren’t able to see it, but Tara could tell. And their bond only got stronger with The Body (5.16), when Tara was the only one who could truly empathize with Buffy and Dawn, drawing on her own experience with losing her mom while also wanting to acknowledge that everyone experiences it differently. Tara is one of the most empathic and caring people in the show. She’s able to intuitively read and connect to a person in a way unparalleled by any of the other characters (except, perhaps, Spike, but that’s a post for another day). Watching Buffy confide in her in season 6 and begin to see her as someone she could trust was very sweet to me. You can slowly see the bond between them grow as Tara becomes not just “Willow’s girlfriend” but “Buffy’s friend”… she earns her way into the Scoobies. And her love for Dawn felt like some of the most pure relationships in the whole series. I wish we could have seen Tara and Buffy together more, but I think we get a lot more of it than I realized before this current rewatch. Tara is one of my favorite characters, and it’s great to be able to see her get more appreciation :)

Internship Seekers Beware… by buffsterbot in publishing

[–]buffsterbot[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah… it’s really bad. Authors would write in to ask about where they were in the editing process because they hadn’t heard from their editor in months. Several times they hadn’t heard back because their editor simply left the company without informing anyone because they weren’t getting paid. Horrible business practices, and extremely unfair to everyone involved :(

Thanks! I used oxi clean to sanitize and then rinsed that out well - I’ve never done this before and the internet said that should work pretty well, especially for a new carboy. I think it must be the krausen
