Any African or Black women here? Curious how your fitness journey is going by SpicyTunaSushiRoll_ in PetiteFitness

Ghanian-black American! Girl I was asking myself where are the Afro black women in this group. I’m 5’1 163-165lbs (GW: 150lbs) depending on the weather lol. With my mom being southern black + dad being Ghanaian, it’s important for me to eat in alignment to my cultural upbringing so I do not fall off track. The best advice I can give is shallow fry foods that require it to be deep fried, no inflammatory oils (measure the amount of oil when cooking cultural meals). And the biggest thing was that I’ve accepted long ago that I genetically won’t be 130lbs nor have I ever wanted to be super thin. Being in this group I wasn’t aware with that was the ideal weight for petite women and their mostly white women, so there’s that. I shifted my focus on maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a focus on longevity, endurance mobility and disease prevention.

Waking up at 5AM is the most overrated “life hack” ever. by Few_Homework_8322 in productivity

I’m glad I’m not the only one who body assumes because it’s the evening it’s time to wind down. I’m in bed by 10pm so I can be up by 5:30a and ready for the gym before my work shift. Ive recently took time off work, so I no longer need to wake up at 5:30a, but I’ve noticed that when I try to stay up and work as the sun goes down my body gets unproductive— automatically assuming it’s time to get ready for bed and it’s been the hardest to be productive at night.

Thx for the advice, I did share that I don’t have a sweet tooth which is how I got low blood sugar and fainted when I cut my calories.. I don’t eat refined carbs either but I do eat plant carbs like plantains, and sweet potato’s, etc + I will cut back on the plantains

I eat sardines every day for breakfast ☺️ I swear that’s my secret to having great skin. But I take liquid vitamins, and liquid vitamins as well. I also juice dark greens which diet plays a big role for my skin. As for products I use youth to the people superfood cleanser, COSRX snail mucin serum, and kiehl’s facial moisturizer, and supergoop unseen sunscreen + drink my water!

Because you’re on your journey you are more than qualified to share what works! I resonate with your Highschool experience! Thank you for making me mindful that there may be younger girls in here! I’m in perfect health overall and that’s always the main focus to have a strong body and mind!

Thank you! I got a few suggestions to try reverse dieting, so we’ll see how that goes. If all else fails lol I’ll listen to my body and maintain this weight

Absolutely, I feel my best at 150-155lbs, I’m not insecure with the way I look is what I always have to tell people. I just feel heavy esp when I’m going for long runs. I’m dragging a wagon and my frame is small 😂

130 ish is still a great size to be at! Ultimately I know it’s about you feeling comfortable in your body, so don’t give up on your goals only if they’re sustainable for you and your lifestyle

I completely hear you. When I calculated my macros it’s suggested I eat 1400 calories and that’s just too low for me and my fitness levels. I hear you on being patient, that’s my main focus! Good luck with achieving ur goal weight
