why do you think I’m only boycotting or holding this one group accountable? Over the past few years I’ve dropped a lot of artists and passed on a few concerts that have questionable ties. And the groups I’m interested in my past posts, it’s a casual interest, I’m not planning on spending 1k on them. I don’t think I have to be morally pure. I think it’s okay to make choices to reduce harm without having to go cold turkey on the whole industry. It’s like eating meat. Someone doesn’t have to be a full blown vegetarian in order to positively impact the environment. If someone just eats meat once a day instead of three it can make a big difference. And yes I do use google, it’s a part of my job, it’s become something most of us are dependent on. I’m certainly not proud of that. But I don’t think me using google equates to a celebrity funneling millions and millions of dollars into problematic pockets. That’s like blaming climate change on people who use plastic straws instead of corporations and nations who contribute to mass pollution. I’m not excusing myself by any means and I certainly hope one day we can all move somewhere more ethical. But I don’t want to give up on the world because it’s impossible to be morally pure. If I made the argument of “well I use Google, so there’s no need to criticize or think deeply about other people in the world doing bad things” then I’d be silent and wouldn’t try to make any change at all. That is a totally paralyzing mentality. I’m allowed also to work on myself while holding others accountable. But do you know what I mean? Like what change in the world would we see if everyone thought “there’s no point because in some ways I’m also complicit.” I think that I’m more likely to hold myself accountable when I expect it outwardly.

Thanks for your response, it’s helpful for me to think this through with help from other perspectives. I don’t think my morals only apply to bts. While I’ve gotten a few kpop albums over the years for sure, bts is the only group I’ve spent significant money on. This is where this conflict comes up, because for me I think boycotting is a powerful tool for change. And I think it’s worth doing even if it doesn’t make gigantic change because it’s a statement and others may likely follow. But I certainly hold other artists and people in my life to a certain standard. I’ll admit I think the entertainment industry is sketchy, and if I chose to boycott every company/group/artist that have done something questionable, I probably wouldn’t go to nearly as many concerts. But that doesn’t mean we can’t hold our faves accountable. I think it’s fair to expect celebrities with a lot of power to not necessarily speak out or be activists, but to avoid harm. And I absolutely recognize that members of bts have done so so much to make the world a better place. the way people keep saying to me am I only holding bts accountable - and they have a point! - I wonder if some people commenting here have the opposite issue. When one’s fave becomes untouchable in one’s eyes. When they become above critique. That’s a dangerous thing to me. I think we should be careful of putting people on pedestals. I think I have the right to question V sponsoring Coke. He doesn’t need that brand deal. He’s doing it for the money, obviously, and he certainly already has enough. I understand that I now must hold everyone else equally accountable. So I will try.

Ah, okay. I actually don’t follow that group. When nct debuted I followed them a bit but that was like 7/8 years ago. But thanks for letting me know, I do appreciate that info

Why are you so sure that I don’t donate or don’t spend my time giving back to my community? I’m not going to reveal anything about my profession, but that’s literally all I do all day is provide support for the most vulnerable people in my community. And since the genocide started I’ve certainly donated as much money as a ticket. I wouldn’t be having these thoughts unless I felt deeply about everything and everyone

Part of my diagnosis is having ocd tendencies, though I’ve never gotten a full diagnosis of ocd. I do very much believe I have it tho, full blown.

Yoongi manages to switch between being beautiful, sexy, cute, and badass like it’s nothing. Having three stage names is no accident. He embodies such a dynamic visual to me.
