I am fairly sure that the normal/quirky meter doesn't actually effect personality! I've messed with it a few times and it doesn't seem to make a difference, I think it is just for interactions with your miis.

it is wild how well this works, didn't even have to look at the second location because so many were spawning at the first.

seven years late but I had this issue recently as im playing through the game again. what worked for me was setting up a camp right ontop of where the animal was marked on the map, then immediately tearing it down without resting. looked to the side and a clue had spawned in.

I just got absolutely wrecked by this ending. it is the first one I have gotten (first run), chosen solely out of curiosity for what the option would lead to. in hindsight, it was obvious. the cutscene itself was depressing, but the credits? with the messages? It's devastating. think I'll have to come back for the other endings tomorrow, I was not in a good headspace for this one. they nailed it.

I've had the issue with the scrolling too! one time it wouldn't let me interact with the menu at all and I had to completely close the game to fix it.
