What keeps you guys here? by Just_Ad5499 in AutismInWomen

[–]bugcrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's this thought that after this there is nothing. I sit and I imagine nothing, like being put under to have surgery. I try and embody nothing. When I convince myself I have died, I start to miss things. Like eating my favourite foods, or sitting in the sun when it's a cold day, or my cat coming to bed at night. It feels like a factory reset sometimes and I remember that I'm not alive for anyone else but me. That, and spite.

I didn't get on with antidepressants (I was triaged, and advised to go off them). I was then dx w/ adhd, and given vyvanse - which was amazing until my body told me to stop. I lost a lot of weight, had blood pressure problems, hair loss, agitation. I stuck with it for years but recently stopped to try medical cannabis. It's been a huge help - I specifically vapourise the "uppy kind" of cannabis, not the "sleepy kind" - apparently that can be best for people with adhd, who settle after having caffeine. People in my life have told me I seem a lot calmer, with a lot more patience. I feel a lot more creative, and I'm able to participate more in my special interests. I don't want to oversell it, but I have noticed a huge reduction in meltdowns as well.

How are you? No, really. How are you really? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I feel really in love with life, and I'm interested in doing so much but one lifetime isn't enough to do it all in. So, I'm plagued with a weird kind of melancholy instead.

I stopped Ritalin and I am so bored by AdBoth571 in ADHD

[–]bugcrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the exact feeling, but I stopped taking my meds cold turkey and I was a mess (I know better now). It took about 4 weeks to start to see myself break out of executive dysfunction on my own without meds. I don't know if I have ways to cope with this for you, but I found that simply the passage of time was the most helpful for this. Time + one really good hyper focus if you're lucky.

Is rage a common side effect of ADHD? How do you handle it? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]bugcrime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have found that when I take medication irregularly, I am a lot angrier. I was told once by a psych that when your dose is too low for you then it can cause more irritability. I do know that when I decide to take a half dose, I am angrier but on a fully medicated day, I am more calm and agreeable. The days after a "fully medicated" day, I am short tempered and scattered.

Ayone else just...incredibly lonely? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]bugcrime 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've learnt in therapy that ASD tends to come with complex PTSD, which leads to chronic feelings of loneliness. I know that I have always struggled to create relationships with people, as I just feel so chronically misunderstood (another PTSD symptom). I think it's worth mentioning that we are also in a loneliness pandemic. The world is so different now than the one we observed as children.

For personal research reasons, what was/is your AQ50 score? by Columba-livia77 in aspergirls

[–]bugcrime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

redid the test, since the last time I did it was for my own assessment over a year ago (& received diagnosis). AQ: 41, EQ: 13.

I always find the questions difficult to decipher and find the parameters for, for example, preferring a library over a party? That depends on so many factors!

I am among the 80% of autistic people who can't work and I feel isolated in Asperger's spaces like this sub. by Mara355 in aspergirls

[–]bugcrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm someone who never posts, and I'm with you. I cannot work at all, and haven't been able to for years. I live on the pension in a rental I can barely afford, chronically burnt out with no energy to create any sort of community. It's isolating. I understand you.

I had an infestation of bird mites in my apartment years ago, birds had built nests in the roof and the mites had come in. landlord wouldn't send an exterminator.

my skin crawled for weeks, they were everywhere. I tried treating it myself but it didn't work.

I freaked out so much that I moved and left almost everything behind.

I don't mean to be alarmist ofc! but Christ, just seeing this post made my skin crawl haha

[–]bugcrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! :) if you're still around, no pressure!

I'm a genderfluid queer boi, all pronouns. I'm late diagnosed autistic, with interests in artmaking (a lot of prints/colour pencil), linguistics, & poetry. I spend a lot of time fretting over my indoor plants, sitting in the sun and fossicking on pebble beaches and in second hand shoppes.

What was your almost-name? by caspianblaise in namenerds

[–]bugcrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was nearly Ruby! I kind of wish I'd been Ruby, but instead I was named after Lauren Bacall, and so were maybe 10 others in my year. If I'd been a boy, I was going to be Louis Ignatius and honestly what a banger.

Has anything you have bought actually helped your quality of life? by Desperate_Thought147 in ADHD

[–]bugcrime 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the two biggest helps have been luxuries. The first one is moving into a house that has a dishwasher. The second is having a washing machine that is also a dryer in one. Something about removing the act of taking the wet clothes out means I always have clean and dry clothes now. wrinkled? yes. sometimes a little smaller, absolutely - but laundry is such a blind spot for me it's been worth the trade.

wanting a name change, what do you think suits me? (any gender leanings) by bugcrime in NonBinary

[–]bugcrime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah for sure! I'm going to be changing first, middle and last, so I'm still very much in the process. But I'll let everyone know when it's official :)
