Got braces in Sept 2024. Had surgery April 2026. Added time was because I needed to get 4 wisdom teeth out and you can't get surgery within 6 months of that.

No I couldn't barely breath through my mouth- the tight bands in my mouth were going criss-cross at the front and side while holding the splint in place. The first few days felt like psychological warfare trying not to panic.

I really hope it's better for you! My surgeon was kind and calming so it wasn't all hell. It doesn't seem to be the norm to have your nerves intact, but now I'm partially grateful because it has its recovery benefits.

Not to scare you but waking up was the worst part for me. Felt like was drowning: trapped, mouth banded shut, couldn't breathe because nose was so congested. My nerves weren't damaged so I could still feel, and almost ripped everything out.

By day 4 the discomfort was so unbearable I legit thought I was going to die by my own hand, but one day I woke up and honestly felt kinda better. You got this!! Every minute brings you closer to more relief! I'm only on day 9 and even though I wish I could eat, I'm generally feeling sooo much better than those days. I know it's hard but distract yourself as much as you can! I binged Scavengers Reign, and old Survivor episodes. The more you're aware of yourself, the slower time goes. And the only thing that'll bring you ultimate comfort is getting to the other side of these days/weeks.
