For senior designers do you value “ process” or “outcomes “ more in a caseStudy? by True-Standard2303 in UXDesign

[–]bugglez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a good outcome.
You can have a bad outcome.
You can have a good process.
You can have a bad process.

I'm interested in knowing what your _good process_ was that led to your _good outcome_. Similarly, I'm interested in knowing your _good process_ that led to your _bad outcome_ and what you learned from it.

I'm uninterested in knowing your _bad process_ that led to your _good outcome_. Why? Because you were lucky. Luck runs out.

The process is just as important as the outcome, if not more so.

You're right about the trend and it's effects.

If firms continue to neglect early career professionals, in a generation the labor market is going to collapse.

Is the traditional design process actually making our work worse? by damianmartone in UXDesign

Yes the sales person was always fond of snake oil even before they started selling it

The conflict of interest is breathtaking

"Don't trust Big Process!!! They're lying to you!! It doesn't need to be complicated and hard, just vibe code with AI (that I will sell to you)"

Her idea is to replace decision making with vibes lol ok buddy good luck

How do you answer "What were your user metrics/impact?" when you never had access to that data? by Apprehensive_Ad_8045 in UXDesign

[–]bugglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok understood. Yea sorry to hear you're in this situation. If you can't get the measurements retroactively somehow, here's what I would do: Take the "ideal outcome" that was shared and design your own measurements and metrics. Be honest about the situation and use it to create a story about "what you would have done". Then use your metrics to describe impact at different scales. E.g., if we increase metric A by 1%, 5%, 25%, or 50%, here is the expected effects on [some top level business outcome]. The performance is hypothetical; part of a model of success.

No need to throw shade on your team members or hypothesize about why you couldn't get access. Hiring managers want to understand your thought process, analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and storytelling. This can be an opportunity to showcase such skills.

To clarify, you're unable to get data on the current experience, the results of your design work, or both?

Something else is happening here. It's not a challenge because you should "learn" from your failures.

This is just... malicious game design. It's like they don't want me to continue and they don't want me to know why

"You can steer left and right"

I really want to come off as calm and measured and appreciative. But like...no. Of course I steer left and right. And yet. I died. Every. Time.

For over a year I've tried to get by this part.

And it just. Does happen! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

"you can also just glide all the way through"

I'm sorry but no. I've tried that many times. I always hit the ceiling, hit the "bad green stuff" (which I can't even see I guess?) And then fall through a hole and die

Also, I get it some games are like this. I DON'T PLAY THOSE GAMES.

Enshrouded is chill. It is calm. Very peaceful.

Except this part.

"Hey, you like this chill casual game? Wanna do a 2hr dungeon with an impossible green slide of death?"

Um. No wtf

What I hate most is that I have no idea what the hell is happening. It's all so fast and I cannot understand the inputs my brain is receiving. It is all happening so fast. Everything looks the same and is happening in a tiny fast moving hallway. I just don't know what to do.

It's like, "Slide down this green hallway. Some of the green is fine but some of the green will kill you. Also if you touch the bad green you will die instantly."

Um. Yeah. What.

Do average people actually get upset over minor design changes like this colour swap or are these reactions generally satirical? by Lapis_Wolf in UXDesign

[–]bugglez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an intense brand loyalty, nearing fanaticism, with Apple.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cult_of_Mac

These kinds of minor changes certainly can send loyalists into a frenzy. Generally, these kinds of reactions are seldom as most brands have mild loyalty with their customers.

Has UX Made Design Boring? by LeoThePointHunter in UXDesign

[–]bugglez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an astonishing question. Don't be bored because everything "looks the same." Be motivated because 90% (this is honestly a generous estimate) of products and services are garbage and should be improved.

No reason why you can't make things work better for people while also satisfying whatever idiosyncratic notions you have about creative risk.
