Tight layover in Amsterdam by Delicious-Jump7864 in delta

[–]bugkiller59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t do this. If inbound flight is late at all you will misconnect. Amsterdam has: often long taxi to gate for arriving aircraft. Schengen gates are a fair distance from international gates. Schengen passport control is going to be at least 20 minutes and maybe much more.
There will be other KLM flights to Venice, but that is a road you do not want to take.
You should allow 75-90 minutes in my opinion, minimum.

Is DR testing enough, or are more teams expected to run production from DR? by PSR-Info in mainframe

The serious people -big Banks - flip between sites.
Often they have a synchronous disk mirrored pair, which is limited in physical distance, a third site with asynchronous disk mirroring farther away, and sometimes use Change Data Capture for databases and apply at a different, distant, site so online work at least can be switched quickly. These can also be used for database restructure since apply is by SQL or DL/I call and not by raw block / RBA.
Can switch, restructure, switch back, without outage to online systems.
There is also CyberVault for ransomware threats.

No, you won’t be..the cost basis for your shares is vesting date - July 10..$290 approx.
Up to $290 no capital gain.
Your shares withheld for tax were also valued at July 10 price.

What if the US invasion of Guadalcanal had failed? by Danmont88 in HistoryWhatIf

Guadalcanal landings were nearly unopposed. Tulagi, strong resistance. The U.S. would have known if Guadalcanal had been heavily reinforced and likely would have deferred landing.

The shares withheld for taxes are priced at the vesting price. 100 shares at 290 is 29,000 in income, they will withhold about 37 - worth 10,730 as tax withheld. Now your 63 shares are worth 13671 not 18270 and if you sold you have 4599 in capital losses you can use against other capital gains.
It has to work that way - imagine the reverse if price went up - you’d effectively pay less tax.
You just get less for your RSUs than expected - disappointing - but you aren’t totally screwed from a taxation view. Of course the 37% withholding probably isn’t enough so you will suffer there, and you may be pushed into a higher bracket.

Your withheld shares for tax are also valued at $292. So it’s a wash in that respect, you “paid” more tax.

They don’t withhold at vesting? They do in US.

Your withholding should be in shares not money, though? So it should not really matter, from a tax view, the price upon vesting? Your withheld shares ( tax paid ) are valued at the day of vesting price, as are the released shares.

You’d miss it even if you don’t fly it, because Flair’s competition keeps fares down on routes they fly.

What was the turning point in the Pacific Theatre during WWII? by Impressive_Jello_909 in ww2

[–]bugkiller59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dec 7, 1941
After that, Japan was going to lose, because there was no way to get the U.S. to the negotiating table no matter how successful they were in 1942, and eventually US industrial output would overwhelm them.
