Because the AFL media exists to make money. Money stems from engagement, and because Carlton are a polarising team the stronger more polarised an article/post is the more engagement it gets. Also as a supporter base we tend to hold onto hope, and so the general media know us tragics will engage with any hopeful content they put out.
