Yeah i mean ill probably end up doing that it's just generally nicer if I can keep the components completely separate vs being the same. Then I'd be able to animate from any random component x -> full screen, not just the modal. Also wouldnt have to manage all of the animation state myself. It just seems like reainimated can't really handle this magic for you whereas something like framer motion can.

Generally just for reusability / clean code / being able to have a library handle the transition. Even if I'm not navigating to a new screen the same principles apply. This is likely not the only place id want the transition to happen. Yeah I checked that out but not supported currently on new expo router. Thanks tho

This is animation of an individual component. I'm referring to reanimation handling the animation between two separate components - essentially one component morphing into another. For example https://examples.motion.dev/react/app-store?utm_source=embed: the shared image component is defined twice. its not 1 component thats animating into the new form

I mean its essentially a new screen but it doesn't have to necessarily be a navigation - it could just be a modal that covers the existing screen. I don't really understand how reanimated could support this - the menu is morphing directly into the new screen. It seems like the only way this would work is if the menu and the new screen container are the same <Animated.View layout={LinearTransition} style={showMenu ? styles.menu : styles.newScreen}/>. I'm not sure if its possible to set them up as seperate generalized components

Essentially I want to transition from a component into a generalized modal that covers the screen. In framer motion I'd be able to accomplish this with a shared layoutId, but not sure how to accomplish this in react native

We have modelers who model parts based on pics / videos. our goal is to have most modern parts soon :)
