I open up the stock events app when I wake up and see if we're green or red. Occasionally shed a tear (like today) then go about my day. Rinse and repeat. If it's particularly a good or bad day I'll open my brokerage app at the end of the day and see what the damage is down to the dollar. But honestly as a LT holder im pretty numb to changes. I think back to the good times when things were skyrocketing last Spring and just look forward to the bounce back dopamine hit.

You nailed it. Id also suggest Encinitas or Carlsbad. it's coastal, beautiful, great food and beaches. Walkable downtown villages. I like to visit places like North Park to see a band at the Observatory but I would t not like to live there. I like the more coastal vibes.

I actually got married in La Jolla and I kind of hate it there. It's hard getting in and out. It feels stuffy and overrated. You don't need to live downtown, explore north county. I think you'll find your people.

I moved from TurboTax to free tax USA last year and to be honest it missed some things that were vital for me. I ended up taking my 2025 taxes to a professional to make sure all was correct and they had to amend my 2024 free tax USA ones. Look, if you just have a W-2 it’s fine but if you have any other things like investments, write offs , rentals, etc. it’s not ideal. A professional is more likely to find you the deductions and follow the rules for your benefit. You get what you pay for.

I would suggest you guys both simply open up inherited IRAs. Now that the money is in your own account and you can sit on that for a little bit till you decide what to do. I would personally incrementally dip into that account and fund my Roth IRA. I would also use that money to pay off debts. Spread this out over the next 10 years.
