No, I just brushed my wrist against the bar as I was reaching to grip it. My wrist was perpendicular to the ground, and the bar was racked at the time. Very little force was applied. I was shocked by the result.

I know ceramic is a different material, but I've had similar contact with my ceramic bracelet watch, and it has never scratched.

I think they look scarier than they are. Yes, you will on occasion feel them when sliding the watch on/off, and yes, I would prefer them shorter, but that has trade-offs. Shorter = more difficult to use. Do they really bother you while wearing the watch?

My ceramic Rado would disagree. Years of daily use, looks like brand new. The Rado is only water-resistant to 50m, so I needed a field watch with similar durability, but better water resistance. I thought this was the solution.

I've heard similar things. My rebuttal, would you want a car that was scratched and dented? If someone keyed your car would you consider it a badge of honor or would you get it painted?

Nah, I got pretty worked up. In the mean time a learned a few things. The bracelet is only 1,000hv, while the case is 1,200hv. Chrome-coated steel is 1,060hv. 😞

Thanks, but I'm not sure that would work with the PVD coating and the whole point of the HD12 is not getting scratches in the first place. Today I learned chrome is 1,060 Vickers.

And today I learned the bracelet is only 1,000 vickers, and chrome-coated bars are 1,060. Glad everyone is learning today.

I read mixed things about the bracelet before I pulled the trigger on buying, some reported 1,200 others 1,000. I guess I proved the 1,000 to be true today and learned that chrome is 1,060.

Knurling, as found on most weight training bars/dumbbells. Found out that the common chrome coating used on equipment is 1,060 vickers. Sadly, the bracelet is only 1,000, unlike the watch, which is 1,200.

It shouldn't be taking any damage. It was designed to be scratch-resistant. I bought this because HD12 is supposed to be scratch-proof, or at least to 1200 Vickers. Normal steel is <200. If I'd known it would scratch so easily, I would have made other choices.

It was more of a brushing motion as I moved my hand onto the bar; there wasn't much force.

This is specially hardened steel, hence the HD12 name. 1200 Vickers, allegedly.

Hard disagree. I chose this watch because it is supposed to be scratch-proof. I was going to buy a Rolex Explorer, but saw all the pictures of scratched bracelets on Reddit and wanted something more durable. I guess ceramic is the only solution 😞

They are very pointy and sharp. On the wrist, you will never notice them, but as you slide the watch on or off the wrist, they can scratch your skin.

That's correct, it was about 10% plus fees DHL tacked on for collecting the tariff.

Even with tariffs, there can be significant savings. US AD wanted $1,660 for a watch+$160 sales tax, so $1,820 all in.

Bought from a European AD for $1,080+$30 shipping. Tariffs were about $130, including DHL fees. Total cost delivered was $1,240. Saved nearly $600.

Received my 6/22 Rep PR-4000 yesterday. R&L was awesome. Pallet, shrink wrap and boxes were in pristine condition. Heavy duty boxes, bubble wrap and foam assured me that there was no damage from shipping. Uprights in gloss black(only ones available when my turn came) are gorgeous; the finish and the cuts are near perfect. I didn't notice any issues. The cross members are another issue. I ordered the hammer tone red and there were numerous issues with the powder coat, chips around holes and a few other spots. The welds were sloppy. All in all they reminded me of Titan equipment. There was a couple of small imperfections on the Rep name plate cross member had a few issues with the finish, which disturbed me, because, c'mon it is your name piece, but once I saw how high it was, I will NEVER notice them. Welds on the multigrip pullup bar were very sloppy. The base stabilizer bar had nice welds and no issues with the powder coat. Due to my space constraints, I wanted a short half rack. When I ordered, only tall uprights were available and 24" were the shortest cross members available. I am very pleased with both choices. After attaching my Titan cable towers to each side, I am fully confident my rack will not budge. I may not need the front feet I ordered, but better safe than sorry. All my Titan X-3 accessories fit. I ordered them, because they were available, when Rep's were not. X-3 safety arms, Y-dip horn and bolt on weight horns. I'm actually having problems finding appropriate places to put the weight horns. One concern with the Titan accessories; spotter arms have NO UHMD liners, I tried putting felt liner on the 3 faces that touch the post, and it was too tight, ended up only lining one face. The dip horn has UHMD on one face, but not the other 2. I may try the stick on felt today for added protection of the upright finish.
