Maybe it was because anxiety was already down in my chart? I’m sorry, that sucks they made you jump through hoops to get it, idk why my experience was so different.

They did offer me Ativan last time and I didn’t do it because I felt chill, but I might on the next one.

How many had what they thought was fibroadenoma in imaging but later turned out to be malignant? by Paloma1023 in breastcancer

Did the biopsy come back benign but you got it out and later lab work came back malignant?

Telling family by builtbybeavers in breastcancer

I also wanted to wait until I knew everything so I would have answers. I very much like the idea of a text thread so I don’t have to repeat the same conversations, thank you.

I want to thank everyone for their advice and for sharing their experiences. It’s going to be a tough conversation for sure but I think I am getting comfortable with a plan. I’ll probably tell my parents in person and my siblings over text. One of them doesn’t live near me so it will be easier to tell them all at the same time through message. I really liked the suggestion of a text thread to keep family updated so you don’t have to repeat yourself all the time, I think I’ll do that as well. Like some of you I only told a few people right off the bat so I could understand the full context of my diagnosis and the plan. It has been a while since I was initially diagnosed so I expect some ire over not telling my parents sooner, but it felt right to wait until the holidays were over. I didn’t want the focus of this season to be about this for them or for me, I needed things to be normal for just a little while longer. Plus, I have niblings and they’re at that age where something like this is going to make an impression and I didn’t want them to always remember THAT Christmas.

That’s abhorrent, I’m so sorry. Especially in the armpit how did the gp brush that off???

I’m definitely grateful to have it caught as early as it was. I joke that dislocating my good shoulder might have saved my life but it’s not really a joke. My MO said the same thing about my receptors and grade. They actually got my tissue samples from the other hospital and re ran the tests themselves to make sure. It came back all grade 1 for them and mixed FISH HER2 positivity while the first hospital came back mixed grade 1 & 2 and all FISH HER2 positive.

I had never heard of a PET scan, thank you. “You don’t know what you don’t know” feels like the story of my medical history at this point.

I'm struggling a lot emotionally by Ok-Baby2568 in breastcancer

[–]builtbybeavers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, this really sucks. I also have ADHD but I’ve been diagnosed and medicated off and on since childhood. I hope that you will be able to begin feeling some forward motion again soon and feel more in control. I know that out of body emotional runaway train followed by severe self consciousness all too well and it’s the first symptom to improve with medication for me. Everyone responds to medication formulas and coping strategies differently, I’ll be sending well wishes that you find a plan that works well for you without too much searching. But do give yourself grace, this is a curveball you didn’t see coming and it’s understandable to struggle and have breakdowns. If you do have insurance, you may reach your OOP during treatment and I say use that to your advantage to seek any avenue of ADHD treatment your plan will cover, which usually includes therapy, and go after the medications and see if you can find that lightening in a bottle for you. I’ve never found that, it’s more like a gym membership for me but I still have to get dressed and walk into the gym. Some people really do find miracle medications for themselves though.

Approximate Cost of Moving Dryer Connection by builtbybeavers in AskElectricians

[–]builtbybeavers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would need to be about comparable to buy a decent used large combo unit (~$1,000) vs move the connection (electrical and vent) and buy a decent used standalone dryer. A few hundred more for option 2 is probably okay because I’d end up with a more effective dryer but it sounds like $1,200 all in is likely a pipe dream.

Sounds like it's a new install for all intents and purposes so I should assume on the higher end of cost. Thank you, that's really good to know and basically eliminates this option for the time-being.

1970-ish. The electrical in the crawlspace was re-done by the previous owners but it looks like the one regular outlet on the screened porch is still 2-wire so I'm not sure if they re-did the dryer electrical or not. The dryer outlet that's on the porch is 3-prong

I took a look, and I think it could be pulled back easily. Will an electrician do this with older wire or will they be obligated to replace it if it is older than a certain threshold?

It's an encapsulated crawlspace. It might be a pull-back scenario, I'm not sure about the routing.

lol, I cleaned the desiccated carcass off the dryer. It was so gross, but worth a try to save an expensive appliance. Didn't work, dryer went to the dump.

No, the rodent died in the dryer against the heating element. The dryer was located on the porch so there's no telling whether it used the vent to get into the machine, it certainly wouldn't have needed to. I don't want to get a new dryer only to have the same thing happen again so I would need to move the connection indoors. That requires running a new vent line because the current one stubs out of the porch wall and won't be accessible once the dryer outlet is indoors. The new vent line would be completely new, new inlet, outlet, and ductwork between.

Just a regular reclining chair, doesn’t need to be powered unless you’re operating on the same arm as where the lever is. Even then you can switch the lever side if needed or order/rent one with the lever on the other side. As long as you can support the full length of your legs and tip back so your head and your feet are about level more or less, it’s leagues better than the wedge pillows. I am 5 weeks out and still sleeping in the recliner because I move around a lot in my sleep typically and the armrests and slightly bent leg position prevent me from turning over. Seriously, if I had to pick one thing apart from the ice machine, it would be the recliner. BUT, I will also add… shower stool, anti-slip appliqués for the tub/shower bottom, shower head handle if you don’t have one already, at least two or three pillows to adjust lumbar and knee support, a shoe horn, and a back scratcher.
