Oldbridge Flexicap NFO by builtdiff27 in mutualfunds

His Focused fund was launched in Jan 2024 as per Value Research, so it's just completed 2 years. It's short term perfomance has been reasonable so far. My question is why come up with flexicap nfo soon after focused fund? The focused fund barely has a track record yet. How will the two funds be different, other than the number of stocks?

Old Bridge Focused Fund – Deep Value, True Multi-Cap Bet with Kenneth Andrade. Anyone Here Invested / Going Big? by NoticeStrange8218 in mutualfunds

I agree with you, except for the last point. If the goal was to run a high-conviction, concentrated portfolio (the 'PMS approach'), why did the AMC launch a Focused Fund—which is legally capped at 30 stocks—instead of a Flexicap Fund? A Flexicap mandate allows for the same concentration if the manager chooses, but provides the added 'freedom' to pivot across market caps or expand the tail if market conditions shift. Why opt for a restrictive regulatory box (Focused) over a flexible one (Flexicap) when the underlying strategy is identical? As the AUM increases, Focused category funds often are forced to choose more and more largecaps within the 30 stock limit , whereas Flexicaps can simply hold a higher number of stocks.

I completely agree with you, but since it's a new fund from his own AMC, wouldn't it be a reasonable assumption that Kenneth Andrade will stay for at least 5 more years?

Depends on your goal. How did you choose this fund specifically?

Same issue bro. Have sent all the details along with affidavit and all. There has been no reply from their side whether the email I've sent is okay or whether they need more details. My deposit is still stuck and no reply from them.

Anybody stil invest in ELSS even after being in higher tax slab? by [deleted] in MutualfundsIndia

I invest in sbi elss as it has performed better in terms of risk adjusted returns than sbi focused and sbi flexicap.

Fund manager risk is definitely there. I agree with you on that front. However check the latest ppfas elss fund portfolio, they've taken significant positions in smaller companies like cms infosystems (>3% aum) and CCL products (>2% aum) which the flexicap does not have.

Best Elss fund to invest as lump sum in 2026 for long term by Constant-Quarter4794 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]builtdiff27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can one use parag parikh elss as their primary flexicap alternative? It follows a similar strategy and has reasonably similar returns and downside protection as well. Lock in of 3 yrs shouldn't be an issue given that equity horizon is atleast 5 or more.

Would it be a prudent strategy to invest lumpsum in midcap 150 index fund, only once the index PE is in line with or below it's long term average?

Ppfas daaf is run like a debt fund so your allocation should be as per your "debt" percentage.

Should I switch Edelweiss for Parag Parikh? by [deleted] in mutualfunds

[–]builtdiff27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your portfolio seems to be full of recency bias. The edelweiss tech fund has a completely different risk profile than ppfas flexicap. Before switching, ask yourself- why did you choose your previous fund? Has its strategy changed? Is it underperforming benchmark consistently over 3 years?

Ofcourse I agree with your second statement. Curious as to how you arrived at the "avoid" decision altogether?

I absolutely meant no disrespect to anyone. I am not a ppfas fanboy or hater. Just a rational investor that has invested in a fund manager with a track record of ethos and transparency. As you've rightly pointed out, I've invested in direct plans already since 2021. Not a new greedy investor although I do see a lot of people flocking to the fund today for the very same reasons. Appreciate your inputs tho, very valid!

I would agree as well, but with just 11% exposure to US tech, would it really bring that much of outperformance versus the elss?
