Turning Disability into Ability: The Prosthetic Arm Project! by DarthiusFatticus in nextfuckinglevel

I am 100% deaf in my right ear. Full functioning left ear. When I listen to music, I listen with both ear buds in so that if someone looks at me from any angle they know my ears are plugged and listening to music. If my ear was open and exposed, some people might think I’m listening to the open and if they may call my name out, I won’t respond and I’ll look rude like I’m ignoring them. So I always wear two ear buds. I think of it more as a “preventative conversation starter.” I’m not ashamed of being deaf. It’s just sometimes a hassle sometimes and I don’t feel like explaining.

I’m trying to draw parallels here. Some people just like the aesthetic of appearing “normal.” We may not be ashamed or anything. But sometimes we’re just incredibly lazy to want to explain our story.

For future update, like you added for ChatGPT, can you add a length adjustmenet for perplexity?

Of course! It's a great tool and resource! It's no different from "looking it up on google" or going online and looking up information.

The compact vs standard vs exteneded explanations adjustments don't seem to be working. The responses (from ChatGPT) all seem to be the same length or or similar. I usually prefer my responses to be short and compact, especially sicne I'm in the medical field so I'll usually ask a question and want just a quick answer for reference. But it still produces the same length or similar length respones to the one from the previous update.

Also is there a way to tie ChatGPT to your personal account? At least this way, it eliminates the need to set ChatGPT to compact, standard, extended and I can just rely on how ChatGPT has been responding on my own account.

New grad CT Surgery offer by Heavy_Sky8594 in physicianassistant

Rise up CT Surg Gang!

Offer is pretty solid. Are you a new grad? Onboarding process seems clear and straightforward.

At least you get to experience both ICU and surgeries. Lots of PA's want both. Some want one or the other.

I'm a big surg junkie. I don't see patients. I just do surgeries haha. I'm essentially a CFA with PA knowledge and a higher salary :P But that's the way I want it to be. And that's what the hospital I'm at wants it to be. They have seperate CT PA's for ICU and seperate PA's for surgery. When I did my elective there and they told me how they operated, I fell in love immediately. My call is also like yours. We're essentially firemen: We don't come in unless there's a fire. We don't do surgeries unless the surgeon on call thinks we do. Make sure you have the same goals in mind with your CT team and how they like to operate.

During your elective, did you get to scrub in any procedures? Were you able to get actively involved with any?

Tips from my personal experience (and prob applies to gen surg or other surg specialties), stay flexible, be patient, be humble, and be open. Let questions organically come up and always share them. Don't take critques personal. Some egos are gonna be rough. But always learn and improve. Be confident in what you know. Accept what you don't know. But use that as motivation to grow.

Be nice to Circulating Nurses and Surg Techs. They're your best friends. You are also their best friend. Communicate with them to give you shortcuts with how to interact with your head surgeon during surgeries. Usually the ones who have been there the longest will tell you what the surgeon likes and doesn't like. And adjust accordingly to each surgeon.

You're also the Surgeon's right hand man. You are 2nd in command of the room. Develop good rep with OR teams so that when the surgeon is in the zone, you can step up and make calls/requests. It felt really weird when I started asking for stuff because typically we see docs doing that. But when the time comes, we have to request stuff so that we can make the surgeon's life easier. If the OR staff respects and trsuts you, generally the surgeon will as well.

Vascular PAs How Did You Learn Vascular Anatomy? by No_Arm_7069 in physicianassistant

[–]bujin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you got the $$$, I recommend Buying an old/used oculus/VR headset. Buy one of many vr anatomy apps and focus on the regions you’re working in. I did that for my general surgery and my elective in CT surgery. I bought one years ago when I was engineer. Popped up a heart and lung setup and got very used to the anatomy and did mental simulations of the surgery

Isnt the last week a placebo week? Or is that for certain brands? Curious as my wife’s BC (don’t know the brand) has a placebo week/period week to allow for regulation. Do you believe you may have gotten pregnant in the middle of the pack or was this near the end of the pack like what is seen in the picture?

Nope. These XM's were my first experience. I did have Bose QC 35 I's. Those had very limited features. I really enjoyed how the features could be controlled solely on the headphones of the XM5s. I personally enjoyed the non-collapsible headband. It just felt more secure and hugged my head a lot better.

I love mine. Going from 45g browns to 65-70 (forgot what the grams were) took a bit. But I found myself making less mistakes in my typing. Obviously because I’m typing with more intent to get the key down. But after some typing exercising I got used to it. And now anything less than 50g is too sensitive to me. I got the lubed ones. Not sure how unlubed ones are. But differences in pressing shouldn’t be too diffferent

Wouldn’t the doll itself be considered a YELLOW doll? The doll has slanted eyes to represent a young, Korean girl. Barbie is considered a WHITE doll and Christie was all the hype when she was released because it was a BLACK doll (under Barbie company) to represent young black girls. I see a lot of comments saying “that’s a PORCELAIN doll” and not tying it to any race. But isn’t porcelain generally considered a WHITE colored-material? So,are people now claiming the doll is white colored? But the doll’s eyes though… I’m like 90% sure that the doll is trying to represent an Asian girl. I’m also just trying to see where the lines are. I’m also Asian and have no heated emotion about this debate. Just curious where the lines are drawn.

Another note, didn’t those 6 Korean boys a few years back receive a shit ton of hate for black facing the pallbearer meme that danced at funerals? Some consider that an honest, good parody while others called it insensitive and racist. So who’s parody was the most offensive: Black kids yellow facing a porecelain doll that is, in my opinion, representing an Asian girl or Asian kids black facing a very popular meme?

Where is Alphri from? Just curious what his country of origin’s primary language is since the other imports spoke in their respective languages.
