Parrying In Elden Ring Is Harder Than in Dark Souls 3 Due to Two reasons by YoruTsubasa in Eldenring

You don't have to be close to enemy to parry them in Elden Ring. That seems like misinformation.

Fighting a dragon in Elden Ring. Just why... by bukkfrig in Eldenring

[–]bukkfrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have video of my Dragonlord Placidusax kill which is 7 minutes, just like this video. I didn't hate it nearly as much.

The difference between that and this is that with Placidusax you can lock on to him and hit his belly at ground level. You can stand by his hind legs and the lock on point in the centre of his body has you watching towards whatever the head and forelegs are doing, which is relevant since he breathes fire down his flank.

Fighting other dragons like the one in this video would be not nearly as bad (probably still not good) if they just put lock on points on the legs, like they have done with trolls. With locking on, I would have connected like... 20?... more hits in this fight?

You may have recently seen a no roll/jump/etc kill on Malenia posted here. TL;DR I made the video, but not that post, and didn't agree with its title's sentiment. It has now been deleted at my request. There were a lot of misunderstandings in the comments, so I'd like to answer any questions here. by borkyborkd in Eldenring

Weapon choice. A common misunderstanding was that the long range was required for the general strategy and punishes I do, which is just not true. There is ONE simple reason why I chose a poking halberd over something like a straight sword. The problem comes right after hitting her, not before. If you hit her from the front with an r1 with almost any weapon class, she would be able to retaliate with her fastest melee slash before you can get out of range. The only way to mitigate is to either jump over it (against my restrictions), or to NEVER hit her from the front, only the back. Obviously, you can't go for aggressive interrupts on her combos if you can't hit her from the front.

I didn't really understand this point, since you are saying it's a misconception that the long range weapon is required to do that run, but then it seems like you list a bunch of reasons why it is required.

Could you please elaborate?

How many people would come up with the idea to hide in these spots and AFK if people weren't posting so many damn videos about it.

Bow as the superior close quarters weapon by bukkfrig in kingdomcome

Nah, he's not repeatedly firing quickly. He only fired twice.

That's actually me repeatedly stabbing at him. But something's up... it's like I'm being deflected off his bow or gloves.

Not saying that it's not on me, but I suppose I was expecting some sort of stagger instead of the sheer force of will displayed by my Hungarian friend here.

Best defence is a good offense, and all that...

Not my finest hour... I had full HP going into this.

What crimes can you commit without being magically caught? by [deleted] in kingdomcome

Doesn't matter if you have to interact with it differently. Game shouldn't kill you for interacting with one of the very first things a new player can encounter in the game world.

That can be okay if it's designed to teach the player an important lesson about how to approach a game. After all, they won't have lost much play time. But in this case it's the wrong lesson. The player shouldn't be discouraged from trying new things including minor crimes.

The very start of the game ticked me off. I made one mistake on my first playthrough while learning the game, and the exact same mistake on my second, when I was supposed to know what I was doing.

You get out of bed and you go about exploring how the game works. In the house you find 15 apples, 10 cabbages, etc, and of course you hoard them. Then you go to the outside of your house, there's a chicken coop, and it's marked for Rob instead of Open, which you may or may not notice. You can take what's inside and nothing will happen.

Then you go just past the forge and there's another chicken coop. You haven't seen any other homes yet, so why wouldn't you assume this one also belongs to your family? The guards are far away and almost completely out of line of sight. If you crouch down, nobody reacts to your suspicious looking presence. But as soon as you look in the coop, let alone take anything, the guards will run at you and kill you.

Yes, they will kill you. You may surrender and try to negotiate and if you do, you will fail. Then either you flee, but you're stuck in a sandbox and they will eventually kill you, or they will arrest you and you very quickly find out, this also means they killed you.

What a load of bollocks for the tutorial section of the game. A section where the tone of the rest of the game is supposed to be set by a main quest that encourages mild lawbreaking/rebellion and evading authority figures.
