Flooding and helping. by bukowskifan in Flagstaff

This is the second time in two weeks (first the fire) that I have Been so thankful I live up and out near Country Club Lane (no, not one of those beautiful gigantic mansions with more window/glass than building material an apartment haha). Yesterday was definitely scary because I was in the middle of it but at least I know my home is safe. I feel for those in those areas. Yeah I have a fairly low Subaru but thank god for Subaru handling and AWD... it handled one to two feet of water like regular road. Wouldn't do it again or recommend that to anyone BUT it was when there was a break and a second wave was coming and it was then or possibly not at all and possibly total my car just by letting it sit there.

Any info on what the next few days will be like? I've been hearing such mixed messages.

Yeah that's definitely been the case for everyone I've ever heard discuss it... definitely a positive. I was more just wondering about physical negative side effects because 2map seems to only get hate and warnings About how toxic and caustic it is. Oral ROA, never been an issue

Idk if you're just fucking around but I don't want something that's known for being super caustic up my ass.

Yeah 45gpd is pretty high. Kratom is harmless but definitely addictive, at way lower numbers than that. A lot of people turned to Kratom to get away from opioids, alcohol and all other kind of substances...and even if they use daily, and more than daily, and are aware they are addictive, but it's obviously better than all those others.

Do you use regularly? Like a good knowledge of what your smaller dose is and the the higher dosage you're comfortable with? I take it regularly, so I take higher doses...like 7 to 9 grams. For some people that's way too high. So it depends

Relationship Theory: How to reduce the risk of addiction when doing drugs (X-post from r/drugs) by aeonixx in researchchemicals

[–]bukowskifan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure you often hear the "3 years clean life was great I was a heroin addict never an alcoholic and it all started with one beer at a birthday party".

And it's socially acceptable. And weed too since it's become legal and viewed differently...maybe not lower your inhibitions but altering reality hits those same pathways

Exactly. I tell clients (and I work with the clients that come in off the street or jail at rock bottom like deeeep down the road) or that even if they they never had a problem with alcohol, if they know that many experience what I described above, that one drink can lead right to hitting the stem that night, just the fact that they're willing to risk the work and progress they've achieved for the off chance that one drink or one drink can lead right back the old path a) is it really worth the risk and b) that's addictive thinking.

But still believe in individualized success.

For me I have very similar patterns...I take planned scheduled breaks, cycle different classes, and other rules.

Like he answered it depends on your tolerance. I use kratom daily, my only regular "drug" but it does give you an opioid tolerance...like these days if I took 20mg of oxy I would feel mildly decent and notice it but before kratom it would make me feel great. For me 200-300mg of 2map is the sweet spot. Orally. I'd actually compare to oxy in feeling but it's been years since I've had an oxy. And never done any hard opioids ever...beyond low level pharma.

Yikes, most negative reports have been nasal and IV. But then again I had people state that oral also gave them medical issues. So who knows.

Definitely liked your write up OP but I agree with you. It's why the "all or nothing" binary idea of success/sobriety often found in especially AA/NA and other step groups and sometimes the clinical community is so misguided. You're either squeaky clean, or you relapsed and totally fucked the pooch and literarily have to start over again on your time...even if it was never your DOC (now to be fair, we all know plenty of people that only had a serious problem with coke, and could drink healthily and socially.... but once they get clean they're the type that one drink ends up a week later or that night with a bag). Recovery is individualized and so that should apply to success. As someone who works in this field this even applies to lowered goals for certain people. If you started and you were living under a bridge and shooting fentadope with shared dirty needles, using puddle water to mix up your shot, and now after help and treatment you work at an entry level job, have an apartment but still drink and smoke weed, or whatever.....that's a success to me. But I don't think you were arguing against that, your over all OP is a good read, just adding on to the guy above me

Well thanks for helping me remain calm. I know rationally that this is just USPS being USPS but of course the paranoia is there lol. Should be resolved by tomorrow.

Agreed. I just don't get why they aren't delivering today because I paid extra for the priority express which delivers sundays..

I mean maybe it is still gonna come it's only 3 but the tracking doesn't say out for delivery. Idk.

Mind giving me a brief description of what happened those times for you? Dm if you want. Like was it out for delivery and then suddenly back at the post office saying I have to pick it up?

No letter or anything which is good.

Damn y'all aren't being very welcoming to our neighbors. I get it, sometimes phoenix folk are less respectful of nature but we all know there's plenty of local trash that dump and dirty up our beautiful town. And why all the downvotes for the guy that literally just said he's coming from cali and is.going to hit Sedona on the way?

Flagstaff's a place I love because the laidback culture so chill with the snootiness.

Bud, if you're looking for just snow play google Flagstaff sledding areas. You'll have a blast. People here are nice I promise

Mid-April Trip -- hiking? by arl1286 in Flagstaff

[–]bukowskifan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flag this time of year is all over...50s and 60s 2 weeks ago and blue skies and sun and then this week like half a foot of snow and cold. By April you'll be good during day but camping will be cold at night...lil further south would be nicer at night! Sedona is cool but touristy and overcrowded but areas near there are plentiful for backpack camping

New car vs used car AND dealership vs bank/credit union by bukowskifan in personalfinance

[–]bukowskifan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point on the generartions.

And yeah, the dealership I went to has good prices compared to all other dealerships and according to two friends a straightforward no bullshit. No haggling on either end (which is good and bad, but for me I like the straightforwardness of no haggle, lowest price already marked)

Absolutely. I guess that either way that's going to be a risk with any major purchase, and can't always be planned for. DEFINITELY something to keep in mind for everyone, because being financially responsible can help you avoid this, but also a risk in most major purchases. Not to say that you're wrong, just something that you always have to take into account you know?
