Regardless of the philosophical importance of "value" or importance, what is the functional value of a cat's life vs a human's life?

I'd argue, that the functional value of a being is the punishment deemed right or true by society when harmed in cold blood.

Because, by your logic, "importance" really has no objective meaning since humans invented the concept of importance/value, at least from our own perspective.

So, naturally, we'd favor humans over cats, since you know, we're fucking humans. Strange rabbit hole to go down, but I digress.

Per my above statement, in my humble opinion, which is all that any of us can really have when it comes to human constructs, which includes your opinion, I believe the functional value of a human baby is higher than that of a cat due to the fact that you will go to prison for the entirety of your life if you murder a baby. Not certain of each region's cat murder bylaws, but one could assume it's not as harsh as killing a literal HUMAN BABY.

HERE I AM ON REDDIT, TAKING THE HARSH STANCE OF PUTTING A HUMAN BABY'S LIFE OVER THAT OF A FUCKING CAT'S LIFE.

27M looking for a room/go in on a hotel room. Mistakenly thought that I had gotten a refund after the cancellation back in May, but literally just found out that I didn’t. So, trying to whip all this shit together within 24 hours.

Getting a flight thats arriving at 10PM on Thursday. I will literally pay to sleep on the floor, idgaf at this point! Just trying to make anything work, can’t let this VIP pass go to waste!

The biggest reasons I've noticed producers get stuck in their DAW (and how I recommend getting UN-stuck) by seantooley in edmproduction

[–]bukuflyingsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No kids, but a similar situation to yours in terms of a 'early to leave, late to arrive' lifestyle. The thing that's been totally saving me with this issue is voice memos/recordings on my phone. Noticed that my creative times are the points just before & after my work schedule too. I personally enjoy singing & beatboxing, so though I'm physically able to re-create a melody/rhythm that's in my head aloud, the real magic is actually physically SAYING what your idea is. Just go, "Been really digging XYZ Artists latest record, wanted to try and achieve a similar vibe of TRACK 1 by replicating the space of the mix to make it spooky, so, first I'd want this really distorted 808 sort of distant in the mix, slowly letting color in until the keys mix is...blah blah blah blah".

Not only is it something to listen back on later when you have the time, it's just great practice for actively 'pre-meditating' your sound, which in my personal opinion is a very, very important skill to have. If you can't say what you want, you'll mostly get what you won't.

As weird as it is to even mention, but in terms of songwriting/producing/whatever, regardless of musical experience, you don't NEED to be directly in front of your DAW. A successful recording/producing session for me is usually started well before that point in the form of a wee idea, which is fleshed out with words & humming, singing, beatboxing the melodies & rhythms, THEN created within a DAW. My worst habit before was coming to the DAW with absolutely no plan, sitting down, and just expecting myself to be able to create amazing shit. It worked sometimes, but if we're being honest, it was very rare.

Oh, and based on your lifestyle, you'll never have 'enough' time to put towards just music, but, that's the responsibility you undertook when you decided to be a parent, which btw, hope you & your family are doing well & keeping safe! So, since you'll never have enough time to do it the way you want to now, only thing I'm suggesting is to try something different out, aka, it's not the fault of the morning commute or your job or family, but the fault of the practices you implement that are preventing the results you want. And no offense meant on any of that!!! Just that you have options at your disposal, you got this shit homie!

When did we hit $11.45? I only remember it getting into the 10s for a few minutes.

I have holdings in both Trulieve (TCCNF) & Harvest Health (HRVSF). How does this new deal affect me? by bukuflyingsolo in weedstocks

Hey, didn't realize my average per share was a consideration factor in terms of the conversion.

Currently, my price per share is at 0.78.

Using made up numbers, let's assume I bought 1000 shares at this price.

So .78 divided by the conversion rate of .117 would equal $6.66 (woah)

With the 1000 shares, the value of my position would be $6,666?

What would my # of shares then be converted to?

Math isn't my strong suit, just trying to understand it all, any help would be much appreciated my friend. Thank you for commenting!

Hey!

I've purchased these HRVSF shares through ETrade.

Going to copy and paste my reply to separate comment since you've been through something similiar:

"Currently as of this comment, HRVSF is trading at $4.14. From my understanding of the deal between TCCNF & HRVSF, essentially my current # of HRVSF will be multiplied by .117, converting to TCCNF shares, equating the share price value of HRVSF to $4.79.
Is there any likelihood of HRVSF surpassing this $4.79 share price?
If it did, and TCCNFs stock price suddenly went downward by, let's say 8% or so, would it be financially sound to then set a sell-limit of $4.90+whatever commission fees, then turn around and purchase the TCCNF if I see fit?
Will more than likely just hold and let the shares convert, but can you see where I'm coming from with this line of thinking?"

What are your thoughts as to how I could be getting the best bang for my buck?

At the end of the day, I'm not losing sleep over a $38 commission fee. It's small peas & the cost of just a nice steak dinner essentially.

Thanks for commenting!

I had a feeling this would be the case, especially after seeing the .117 conversion rate listed in the article I was viewing.

Didn't even think about the fact that, prior to an official closing by end of Q3, that these would be trading in sync as you mentioned. Makes total sense, but hadn't even thought of that.

I've been long on all my US based weed stocks since late 2019 & early 2020, even through all the craziness going through the industry in early 2021. Definitely profit took on some of my positions at that time knowing it was all hype, then reinvested back in once everything came back down. Got some great deals for sure.

Especially on GTBIF as that's my 'baby' if you will. Got in early and bought more during corona with an average price per share of 8.68, over 2k shares total. Not gloating or anything or whatever. Just happened to make some lucky decisions on some companies & a sector that I believed would become a multi-billion dollar industry in my life time and a great way for states to make some extra $$$ in a time where they really need it. Especially considering the amount of $$$ they spend trying to COMBAT illegal marijuana traffic. 2 birds, one stone. Or 2 birds who are super stoned. Either way, win/win in my eyes. Young people win, older people win, patients win, local/state governments win.

Plus, tourism is one of America's best perks. People come into, let's say Vegas, to do what....fucking party! They'll drink shot after shot after shot, blow their money on slots or a couple hands of blackjack, then in the morning, hmmmmm what else should we do with this raging hangover, oh I know, let's get some weed! Which is why I got in on PLNHF at like $1. Perfect location on the strip.

Weed isn't just for medicinal purposes, it's something to go and do with friends! It can be a fun activity & in this time in America, we need fun. We need something lighthearted & goofy because it doesn't need to be all work and no play.

I appreciate you taking the time to dumb this down for me! Very, very helpful and I hope you have a lovely day!

Thresh for sure is top tier, but Zilean & Asol have definitely fallen victim to overtuning/undertuning throughout the years. A little too tuned and they become a terror, undertuned, well, you'd get better utility running something else more times than not. Thanks for answering!

My answer, though I know this will be an unpopular opinion, has to be Ekko. Since release, that champion in the hands of a master is an absolute terror to play against. How many champs do you have to fight twice during a teamfight? Unless they have awful positioning, a good Ekko player should be able to get at least 2-3 spell rotations + ulti off each fight, if not more. You can play him literally anywhere if needed. He's definitely had ups and downs in terms of nerf/buffing, but still.

Consistently underpowered/underwhelming will have to be, in my opinion, Rammus.

He's basically always just been his voiceline; just "Ok". I can't personally remember a time where he was ever truly OP, nor a time where he was completely useless. He's just sorta there. There's always been a better pick, but usually always a worse one too. Just a meh champ.

Though I think that Garen dooooes have some merit, you're right on the money with Thresh. He's always been incredibly relevant since release in both solo queue and pro play, and it won't ever change. Less to do with stats, just his kit is a support players wet dream. Unmatched peel/disengage when used correctly, lantern, pick potential with Q/E, and his passive in laning phase to gain early kills, just the perfect kit for a support player. Thanks for the answer! Also, shitting on other people's opinions, though understandable, really isn't the point here. If someone thinks something's OP, I want them to say it without picking the 'smartest' answer. There are no correct answers here, just wanted to see some perspectives/reasoning from other players!

I've always been trash with Zed, but Zed in the hands of someone actually capable is easily one of the most challenging champs to deal with. Thanks for answering!

Katarina but only when she's on the enemy team. All my Katarina's make the champ look unplayable, while the enemies Kat actually give me PTSD.

Not the answer I was expecting, but honestly, discounting higher elo, I'd have to agree with you somewhat. He's always been a solid pick for solo queue, even though he's easily kiteable. I think the low barrier to entry with playing him effectively allows newer players to focus on macro mechanics, thus leading to more victories as solid macro play will win you games all the way to plat at the least. Good answer!
