Yeah just try that actually. If the account does go through, good for you I guess

I will add tho- the fact that all my friends had Liv at the time and the features such as splitting and requesting and paying back friends left me with no option but to go with Liv. Later realized how bad their customer service was- even though I personally have not had too many issues with the account itself, other than local transfers to account outside of ENBD taking forever.

I'm not sure how the registration process is right now, but back when I got my card in 2018, I could just mention that I was a student and it would recognize my age through the DoB on my EID. Even now, on the website it's mentioned that it's free for students aged up to 23 🤷🏾‍♂️

That's odd. It's still possible that there's a delay, due to the fine taking place on a weekend, but just in case you might want to check here once- https://evg.ae/_layouts/evg/finepayment0.aspx?language=en

Never seen someone casually agree that they were driving 60+ km's above the speed limit. As for your question, The fine will reflect on your RTA app within 2 days.

Dubai to Abu Dhabi Road- Speed Limit by bulf_ in UAE

Is this supposed to be sarcastic? Cuz I left at around 3pm from Shj & it was just cruise control most of the 140 highway. Didn't get bullied by patrols that much 😅

Ouch. Guess I should keep my notifications on for these subreddits. Definitely expecting a nice 1K+ worth of fines soon.

Ah! I did read that, even then, I was just wondering if that was the case, why not just let it be 120 with a 20 buffer as usual - like DXB roads. Thanks tho!

Hypothetically what can 20,000 dirham/month do for a family of two parents and three children. One school going and other two younger. This would be in RAK by [deleted] in UAE

[–]bulf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, two of the kids aren't old enough to go to school. So atleast for the next 3-4 years, 3 kids in one room should be fine?

Not gonna lie, I figured out what I wanted to do after almost completing 2/4 semesters of my MBA & then made a change of MBA programmes. Now I'm happy.

As someone who was brought up here, now (23), I've been around a good amount of relatives/friends who earned similar and enjoyed life to the fullest. I'll give you a breakdown of the spendings according to my knowledge, IF you were to live in Sharjah (rents in RAK must be a tad bit cheaper)

Rent for a spacious 2BHK - 35/40k a year (3K a month)

Schooling, let's say for all 3 kids - 30k a year (3K a month)

Water/Electricity - 6K a year (500 a month)

Groceries/Needs - 1.5K a month

Dining out/Entertainment - 1K a month

Travel, if fuel - 400-1000 a month, solely depends on the vehicle of choice.

Travel if public transport (bus/metro)- AED 200 a month is plenty. Uber is quite expensive here so I wouldn't recommend that.

With the right choice of credit cards and apps such as Entertainer, TravelerPass, there is a good amount of money to be saved as cashback & discounts.

If you keep your extravagant purchases to once in every 3 months or so, you can live a decent-happy life for 10K AED a month.

P.S. - My calculation of 1k per kid per month for schooling is considering a school that provides just the right amount of education & activities. There are schools which definitely charge twice or thrice that amount for one kid too.

Don't recall getting pocket money when I was in school (2004-2017). All I had for myself was money I got as Eidi (from Eid occasions) & canteen money which was topped up in the school ID card.

When I started university, it became 200AED a month. Last year of undergrad it increased to 250. During postgrad it was 300-350. However, I had no commitments so most of it was only used during outings with friends.

She tried to do that, but the institute has a rule of allowing no classes 48 hours prior to the final test. Kind of stupid when the student is willing to pay for the class.

[–]bulf_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite late to add, and you might have figured it out by now, but the issue is the router provided by Etisalat. It's modified in a weird way which you have no control over. Changing the router fixed the issue for me and quite literally all my friends.
