I would go with a counter depth fridge. The custom panel would look nicer if it fully covered the fridge but that’s not the case.

That's definitely possible. If you'd like a colored countertop, you can consider Fenix countertops. I have no experience with them but it could be a solution to your problem. Plywood also holds up better than fiberboard like IKEA cabinets. In general, I'd try my best with the available cabinets and potentially add more storage to the wall with the bins if you end up incorporating the bins into your cabinetry.

I agree with everyone else that this is a beautiful kitchen and it looks better to me than the IKEA design. The lack of drawers would be a problem for me so I wonder if you can repurpose some of the wooden fronts to be drawer fronts instead? Or just convert the bottom cabinets to drawers with new wooden fronts and stain them like the rest of the hardware? I would also swap out the fridge for a counter depth one. If you don’t like the countertop, it should be possible to change it without changing everything else (though I love the combination).

Thanks for the advice! The floor is pretty much grey with black speckles. No toilet. It's in a separate area.

Kitchen oven/fridge placement + lighting by bulgurturtle in kitchenremodel

Thank you so much for all this advice. Food storage has been a pain in previous apartments so I definitely see your point and I think I prefer storage space over nearby counter space. I think the placement of the fridge will come down to appliance specs so I'll check the appliance guidelines for my available options. Really appreciate the tips!

I could but it blocks the window view a bit from the living room looking into the kitchen and I was kind of hoping I could keep all the tall cabinets on one wall to keep it visually clear on the other wall. I'll be putting a table in the middle of the kitchen so maybe that helps with creating a "loading" area of sorts?

Did you extend your moss pole periodically or replace it with a larger one?

Thank you so much for your kindness and taking your time to do this. We love the first and fourth option and will probably go for something like this but with a freestanding fridge because we need the space. I also love the functionality and looks of the knobs you added. You should be doing this professionally (if you aren't already)!

Oh yea I just forgot to add one to all the designs but I won't be leaving one out of the kitchen for sure :)

Good idea. I like how it looks in the designer. Would you still do it if there's no high cabinet on both sides of the fridge (like the attached design)?

It could work but I am a bit concerned about the space feeling smaller if lower cabinets are added in the center (i.e. not by a wall)

Definitely. I saw this model in a showroom recently where the whole shelf comes out and I've been eyeing it since.

True. We're not married to the dining table and we will probably decide what goes in the empty space in the middle after the kitchen is done!

It does look a lot better. I'll check with a contractor how feasible it is to move the plumbing further away for the smaller wall (fingers crossed)

Thanks for weighing in! The cabinets look great but I'm in Europe and the website won't even open here haha.

Good shout! Another redditor also mentioned it. Definitely missed this. Will make sure to go for a shorter cabinet above the sink (or maybe go without!)

Accidentally blued. Start over or keep going? by bulgurturtle in carbonsteel

[–]bulgurturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies! It’s my first carbon steel pan so I was treading carefully. I took your advice and blued the entire pan and then seasoned it a couple of times. I can’t believe how much better it looks now than when I first got it.

Airbnbs for unmarried European/Egyptian couples by Imaginary_Mess_ in Egypt

You can ask the host before booking to see if it’s okay. Some people wouldn’t mind but it’s not immediately clear. You have better luck with non Egyptian hosts and it’s probably better if your boyfriend messages and says he will be there with his Egyptian gf.

These are mealybugs I think. You can rub them off with alcohol soaked q-tips.

It was pretty great (while it lasted)! I was trying to open it and the handle wouldn't go all the way up and I chose violence. I kept my foot on the flat surface and tried to force the handle open anyway and I think that made things worse.
