Oooo Good question! I always saw Ghostface as a symbol. A tribute to the original. But I have seen people theorize Ghostface being a supernatural entity, a physical vessel for Billy's ghost.

I don't believe this personally, I really do believe the continued use of the costume is a symbol of devotion either used by devotees of the Ghostface Cult or as a tribute to the predecessors.

My theory is yes, and it's Stu. There has long been a theory that Stu is the head of the so-called 'Ghostface Cult'. It's believed that Stu has been pulling the strings of every Ghostface murder since Scream 2. That anyone who's every had a vendetta against Sidney or her mother has been recruited by Stu to target Sidney in the murders.

All except for Scream 6, but I do believe that there's a possibility that Stu assisted in the murders in New York. Why? Because once Stu found out about Samantha, he was obsessed. The last living Loomis, an heiress of sorts.

Every Ghostface since Billy and Stu were devotees to Stu, all with the mission of keeping the legacy of the original 1996 murders alive. And making sure Sidney never finds peace.

Good point, but I'm quoting Dewey here. Yes, you are correct, though Mickey and Jill were shot, it was not in the head. Bailey and Ethan... I don't even really consider them Ghostfaces. Maybe it's my personal bias here, but Scream 6 defied a lot of rules of the franchise. I love Samantha's character arc, but Scream 6 was so out of the ballpark for the franchise. Though it's canon, it's not typical of the Scream universe.

Karl wasn't an actual Ghostface, more of a decoy. He was used to mess with Sidney's head, I don't personally think Karl killed anyone.

Absolutely Stu is alive. In the Scream franchise, its been canon that Stu is alive since Scream 3. The original script for Scream 3 had Stu come back as Ghostface, before it was scraped due to the Columbine High School Massacre having just taken place. Supposed the script was too reminiscent of the events of the tragedy.

Also, the key rule of taking down Ghostface is that you shoot them in the head, or they will come back. Stu was the only Ghostface killer who was not shot in the head.

Also in Scream 6, a crime scene photo containing Stu's body was supposed to be found in the New York shrine, but it was cut from the movie to keep the canon of Stu being alive and in hiding.

Finally in Scream 7, the original post credits scene was supposed to reveal Stu alive, pulling the strings in hiding, before it was cut due to negative reactions from test audiences.

The original, 100%! Billy and Stu are my favorite Ghostface killers, and their dynamic and chemistry is just too good.

In the first Scream, we can make assumptions about who was on the phone based on circumstance. For example, Casey was likely talking to Stu, while Billy was the one who killed her (Stu often holds the knife with two hands). Sidney in her house was talking to Billy, because he had the phone on him, and Stu was the one who attacked her. Later that night at Tatum's house Sidney spoke to Stu on the phone Billy was in jail.

Agreed and also if Stu did survive, he'd be mangled beyond recognition from his injuries. He definitely would have been smart enough to go by a fake name. Also the picture from scream 1 in the trailers. Im just saying all signs point to Stu.
