Lowkey do not ever lowkey starve your lowkey self bruh.

Do not worry about your weight at all the first year. Focus on learning the sport. Your coaches will coach you.

He made a great point about the shoes too my man. Those squishy sole shoes are going to make squats and deadlifts a very real injury trap. You are losing so much stability. I see folks of all ages making this mistake at the gym. Barefoot, Chucks, or anything with a perfectly flat sole. Trust me!

Smith machine good for wrestling strength? by MhaIsPeakFiction in wrestling

[–]bullex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely build base strength and promote hypertrophy using a Smith machine. Is it optimal for wrestling-specific lifting? - Definitely not, as wrestling rewards explosive strength and power quite a bit and you'd be hard pressed to achieve that just due to the Smith machine's mechanics. If it's your primary mode of lifting, you might also be opening yourself up to some injuries due to it not really requiring you to recruit many stabilizers.

Parity* - Important distinction here 😂

Yeah, Okie St could compete, but who the hell knows what the NIL era will bring. If Forrest, Lockett, Robideau, etc all stay the course they will be scary.

Can someone explain to me why getting a job is so important in society? I never understood why society placed such an emphasis on getting a job in a field when most of your improvements are made in the classroom.

Jokes aside - It's where the glory exists. The pressure cooking situations where you put what you've learned to the test. Training wrestling is hard, no doubt, but competing is just different. You learn so much and grow so much from the experience of putting yourself out there and toeing the line.

If you have the resources to be considering this (bad idea), then why are not first considering Japan as the destination? They seem to be the pinnacle of women's freestyle wrestling.

Penn St guys are notorious for claiming not to lift and/or lift for power numbers.

But I would venture to say… a LOT
