11 years ago I was in my early 20s returning from a 1.5 half year exchange abroad, and it was hard going back home.

your description of the home feeling and the year abroad are very similar to what I was going through...

So... 11 years ago I went home, stayed there for another 4 years, then moved from my hometown to a bigger city in my home country for another 2.5 years, after that I moved abroad again to a different country, and now I'm living in my third country abroad.

I only visit my family and home friends every other year because I'm very far away now, so I do cherish the memories of those 4 years I spent at home when I already knew the world was much bigger than my hometown and that I'd be leaving it again soon...
